Finished month one -- would like to build more muscle VS get skinnier
Showing 11 results.
Hello all, first time poster!

I'm currently on my recovery week of Insanity. I really love the program.. i've trimmed the excess fat and getting getting to a place where i'm comfortable. (i do modify -- less knee exercises, more pushups/pullups)

I have some muscle, and some fat, which is good imo. I dont want to get skinny, and would like to build a little more mass. Question is, should i continue month two of insanity or introduce something a little different now.. IE hybrid/Insanity weights/P90x?

I don't want to get skinny.. i want to build a litte more mass a lost just a little more fat. I think i'll be burning the little excess fat i have by introducing weights, no?

What do guys think i should do?? Here's a pic of me from last year, and current state.

First of all...awesome results! I would stick with the schedule and add in the Insanity Upper Body workout in a few times a week. That is a great Workout. After you complete the month you can certainly look at a hybrid with P90X.

Let me know if I can help further.

Mike

Thanks Mike! I think incorporating the Insanity upper body workout would be best too. Are there available schedules that incorporate those that i can look at?

No schedule is out there I am aware of but Shaun says to do this 2-3 times a week. Make sure you don't do them on back to back days so if you want to do it twice maybe something like Monday and Thursday would work.

I would add in some additional strength training and continue on through month 2. You will add lean muscle and weight will still come off as you progress through month 2. It will make the additional muscle mass more defined.

So i'm on month 2 now emoticon, and i started subbing Max Cardio for the weights training.. i'm definitely liking it better! i just need to get adjustable dumbbells... any recommendations?!

The bowflex ones are hot and many folks like them. I do not have them myself but hear good things...but are pricey.

i would finish out Insanity then go do P90X afterwards. It's much easier for an everyday common, busy, on-the-go person to focus on losing fat and gaining muscle at different time periods. Seeing good results on both at the same time only works on lab rats IMO.

I agree. i've been doing a lot of reading lately, and it seems to be impossible to cut and bulk at the same time.. and i have about 10lbs to cut and tone.. so i think month 2 of insanity will do just that. then after i complete the program.. i can send my before/after pics.. get my hard-earned well-deserved insanity tshirt and move on to whatewver i want to do. its easy to want everything tomorrow.. but i think insanity is the best bank for the sweat/time you can get for someone who wants to lose 10-20lbs and look ripped.

agree...the two programs have different purposes..Insanity is more of a weight loss/cardio strengthening program, while P90X is one focused more on overall fitness including muscle definition with cardio conditioning...of course there is some weight loss benefits to the X but that is not the main focus...so if you have some weight to loose I agree finish Insanity and then go into P90X
