RE: 60 Day push until the New Year! Start HERE!!
10/28/12 9:30 AM as a reply to CoachKimW.
Motivation is key to success and we all know that it can be difficult to do just that for a full 60 days. That is why we are building a team to support each other through the times of weakness. We can all think of excuses not to workout…those are the easy ones. We are not feeling well, overwhelmed, depressed, stressed out. We are traveling too much, didn’t get enough sleep, have too much to do, and it goes on and on.

Why is Beachbody full of people that don’t give in to these excuses? How can you succeed this time and not quit? Here are some tips. Some were from Tony Horton himself and others are things that I have learned on my fitness journey.

Get into your workout clothes and push play.
Getting started is the hardest part for most people. If you tell yourself that you are just going to do the warm up and then stop if you still don’t feel like doing it, you are already significantly into the workout and have found the energy that comes with working out. I bet you will keep going.

Stop beating yourself up if you miss a workout! It's OK to miss a workout once in a while. It doesn't mean the whole thing has gone to hell in a handbasket. Life happens. Priorities shifted that day. So what? Start where you left off. No big deal. [Tony Horton]

Schedule your workouts. Treat your workouts like any other appointment. You wouldn’t skip that meeting with your boss that is on the calendar. You wouldn’t miss your child’s choral concert that is on the schedule, so don’t miss your appointment with yourself! Even if you aren’t motivated, its on the calendar so you get yourself to your TV.

Don't freak out if you don't see results. What, no results in the first month! So many things effect results: age, body weight, how out of shape you are when you started, flexibility, athletic background, etc., Some will see results right away, others will have to wait a little longer. You didn’t get out of shape in 30 days so don’t expect it to work the other way around either. [TH]

Think about the end of the workout. Don’t get caught up in thinking about how unmotivated you are at that given moment. Instead, think about two things…how you are going to feel immediately after the workout. Also, think about why you started in the first place…was it to lose weight and stop the obesity in your family. Maybe you want to be more confident as you carry yourself throughout your day. Maybe you have a family history of diabetes or heart attack and you are saving your life one day at a time. Your overall motivation must make you want to cry.

On your most exhausting, overwhelming, lackluster days, stick the DVD in the player and see what happens. Be fully committed to having a lousy workout. You must be OK with the fact you will be weak and puny and rotten at it. Any workout, no matter how bad it is, is always better than NO workout at all. You just can't feel bad after a workout. Ever! If you've got good energy and you do the best you can, you'll have a great workout. If your energy and motivation are in the toilet and you do it anyway (even poorly), you've had a great workout! [TH]

Buy a calendar and a big, fat red marker. Place your calendar where you see it all the time—on the front door, bathroom mirror, or refrigerator, or next to the TV, etc. For every day you do your workout, write a big, fat red X. More X’s = more success [TH]

I hope this has helped. Feel free to contribute more ideas. Lets do this together!

THE JOY OF DISCIPLINE OR THE PAIN OF REGRET, WHICH WILL IT BE TODAY?

Rock on artx3! That is an awesome goal and it is very obtainable! You've go the right mindset with concentrating on foods. Exercise is absolutely grand but a nutrition plan is just as important. Both go hand in hand like a needle and thread. Push play and kick butt!!

My accountability post for the day:
Day 29 of P90X2. Talk about humbling....very humbling. Though it was just Pull-Ups and Push-Ups, I walked into it thinking I could do the Push-Ups using the stability ball with ease. First move with the stability ball I almost ate carpet...and I wasn't even trying to push, I was trying to balance LMAO!!! To say the least, I am excited to improve! I have a game plan for the Pull-Ups too. I am using 2 resistance bands now to double the tension. I am determined to be able to do a dead weight Pull-Up by Christmas. Heck, I am sure I could do a dead weight one by Thanksgiving as long as I practice every day! Speaking of practice, I am definitely going to play around with the stability ball and med balls today hehe.

Welcome Raz! I like your statement about the needle and thread...I might steal that oneemoticon I laughed at the idea of you eating carpet just balancing. Only because I know that I WOULD eat carpet if I tried doing that righ tnow. Practice and you will master it! I love your measureable goal. Be sure to celebrate with us when you achieve it!

Hi Coach,
I'm here. I will be spending the next 2 weeks doing all sorts of workouts including Insanity, Turbofire and running with my puppy (weather permitting). After that, I start basketball practice with 12-13 year olds and filling in the other days with the Beachbody workouts. I will be following your posts and getting myself back on track.

My background - I completed the basic Turbofire rotation (did not do the advanced) and moved on to Insanity. Turbofire was my pre-insanity prep (haha). I was used to ellipitcals and treadmills prior to that. I wanted to bring my cardio to a new level and add some sculpting. Insanity kicked my butt for the first 2 weeks and then again starting month 2. I did see great results in my cario. Running no longer seemed difficult for me. My endurance was much higher as well. I did not lose any weight, in fact I gained a bit. However, I could see the muscle coming around. I was actually able to do push-ups by the end. I am kicking myself for taking a 3 week break and just "fitting in" exercise when I could. Now I will be starting from scratch. As a mom of 2, life happens!

I have followed Coach Kim in her last 2 threads and it is always great to have someone out there watching out for you. She does a great job inspiring and motivating!

Keep pushing play!
Jami

Great to see you here Jami! do you workout with the kids at basketball practice or do you wait for them as they practice? I was thinking if you are waiting, maybe you could go for a quick run or find another location in the building to do Insanity? Is it possible for you to get your workout in early, before everyone wakes up? that way it won't get pushed aside.
Just some ideas. Lets push it until 2013 here!

I am assistant coach for my daughter's team. It's a small school so we don't have enough girls to scrimmage the last hour or so. That's where I get to fill in. If our team is bigger this year, I may not have to fill in - if that's the case, I will do a workout when I get home. I could do my workout in the morning, but I would have to be up at 3:45am. I leave for work by 5:50. I did that for about 5 years and I would drag most of the day and just dread getting up. It was fine if my kids would go to bed by 8:00, but now they are up until at least 9:00 most nights, which means I can't get to bed early.

I actually fire 30 last night with 1.5 weighted gloves. It was different with the extra weight on the arms. I liked it. Tonight Insanity.

Basketball is a great workout! I hope you get to do that a few timesemoticon

I'm glad to hear that the weighted gloves changes things for Fire 30. The package with my gloves arrived after I started the reset so I will get a chance to use them for the first time after I finish.

Let us know how Insanity goes!
