Day 30 - a little underwhelmed with my results
Showing 13 results.
I'm on Day 30 & just took my measurements. I've lost a total of 1.4 lbs from my start weight, but had gained 4 lbs during the 2nd week (WTH??), and re-lost it, so my total loss is 5.4 lbs from my high. The weight loss doesn't concern me so much because I only have (now) 5 lbs to go until I hit my goal & I know I'll get there. But, my inch loss is only 4" total. My measurements:

Day 1
Waist: 32.25
Lower Abs: 38
Hips: 40
Chest: 38
Right Arm: 11.5
Left Arm: 11.5
Right Thigh: 20.5
Left Thigh: 20.5

Day 30
Waist: 31.25
Lower Abs: 38
Hips: 38.75
Chest: 37.5
Right Arm: 11.5
Left Arm: 11.5
Right Thigh: 19.5
Left Thigh: 20

From what I've read on the boards I'll see a more dramatic change with my Day 60 measurements. Please tell me I'm on track & that this is true!! I'm a little discouraged that I've been busting my butt for a month and this is "all" I'm seeing for a result! I know - its still 4" and 5.4 lbs LESS than a month ago... I just hoped it would be a little more of a deficit!

I feel the same exact way! What program are you doing? I'm on P90X. My goal is not weight loss, but to tone up my belly area. I didn't see any improvement in my 30 day pictures but I did lose a few inches on my waist. As long as we're losing inches, we should be on the right track!

I have actually gained weight, having said that, I didn't change my diet (something which I am starting to work on this week)
I'm going into week 5. I compared my before and 30 days photo and there is no visible change :/
Having said all that, I'm not at all disappointed because I feel stronger than I did prior to starting and I have a lot more energy!
So, I see it going in the right direction and I plan to hang in there. I haven't missed a single work-out and I don't plan to ...

Hi everyone,

As long as you are moving in the right direction, you'll win! It usually comes down to nutrition. If you are doing the workouts with 100% effort and you aren't dropping lbs, inches, or BF, then look at your nutrition. I can't tell you how many clients I have trained over the years that when they changed their nutrition combined with intense exercise, they where a success story!.

I'm doing P90X as well. Same with me - I wasn't looking specifically to lose but if I did that was ok. I was hoping more for the toning benefits. That's exactly why I am not taking pics again until Day 90 - I know myself enough to know that if I don't see any changes (or enough...) I will really get discouraged & give up. I'm going to keep pusking play!!

Same here - I was just thinking today that even with somewhat underwhelming results so far I feel MUCH stronger & in better shape physically than when I was "just" going to the gym. I definitely work harder at home to P90X than I ever did at the gym! I haven't missed a workout either - I have pictures of myself working out with my 2 year old son "coaching" me along & mimicing me! He does downward dog better than Tony! emoticon

I have been paying very close attention to my diet though not following the P90X nutrition plan. If anything, I think my problem is not eating enough. I am getting a good amount of protein in & really watching my carbs & sodium. I think I've got to increase my daily calorie goal. I've been averaging between 1600-1700 daily. Its hard to get past that "less is better for losing" mentality though!!

Women have a misguided obsession with weight. It's body fat that they should track NOT weight and if you are losing inches from your waist then it's going well.

I fluctuate +/- 3 pounds just by eating one salty meal or eating a bit more carb one day

Women who crash diet drop weight but more importantly they drop their muscle so they end being being skinny but more of their body is fat. Losing your muscle tone this way makes you floppy to the touch and will help you yo-yo ever fatter in a vicious circle. If you want faster fat loss you can drop the calories a bit but i would recommend that every few days you eat more again (your maintenance level) to stop your metabolism from stalling (see zigzag diet below).

P90X promotes a balanced approach where you get fitter and eat close to maintenance calories using exercise to create the deficit. You can eat less than what they say but you need to know what you are doing...ie never stay on a dietary deficit for too long

Thanks Jeff - awesome reply! I do use myfitnesspal.com to track my food & exercise & will add you as a friend. However I do believe I have discovered the reason for the lack of results on the scale... I just found out this week I am pregnant! emoticon That helps to explain things huh?! LOL!!

I plan to continue doing P90X for as long as I'm able to, modified of course. No more plyo and I'm going to do my best to keep my heart rate under 140. Its going to mean backing off some during cardio & Kenpo but at least I'll still be moving & pushing play! Hopefully after the baby comes it wont take me long to get back into the full-out swing of P90X again!
