changing of coaches wth...
11/3/12 11:04 AM
I am still new to this beachbody thing so i am curious to why if one is interested in joining someones group that they are starting why does some one have to change their coach just to join... I love my coach and she does awesome with me... but sometimes i want to join other groups and meet new peeps but some of the groups that I wanted to join say i need to change my coach.. get real... this is my first and sofar my only dislike about beachbody when another coach says that you need chg coaches.. forget that!!

Well, it's really very simple. When you coach someone you should encourage and give guidance to that person. This takes time, remember each person needs individualized attention. If you are coaching 20 or 30 people you may have to spend 2 hours a day or more. Now, your coach makes a commission of everything you buy from beachbody, this is in a way how coaches are being paid for their time. If a coach is taking the time and effort to create a group, do follow up and support to their members, the coach expects that you are in his group.

Another option is to ask you own coach to create a group so you can join.

Let me know if I was clear.

CoachAlbertoRo is really on point here...coaching is about being personal and investing time...it is not just about starting a group online.

Maybe you can approach your own coach and see if she/he can start a Challenge group that will suit your needs? Because at the end of the day, all the coaches want the same thing...your best interest emoticon

Two excellent and honest answers. Many coaches spend hours a day on these threads and on Facebook groups. The only thing they get aside from personal gratification is a small commission when a customer orders something.

That being said, I have run multiple threads here on BB and on FB and have NEVER told someone they have to change to me as a coach. Those that did not want to switch in the beginning usually realize the passion and time spent in my being a coach and usually switch on their own. There are a few that stick with their old coach and I am fine with that. I am in the helping business.

Good luck with your journey.

It's actually quite a turn off the constant sales on these boards. When I joined TBB, I picked my coach for two reasons, 1) she seemed knowledgeable and supportive and 2) she wasn't spamming the boards with "I will answer your question if you buddy me but in the thread I'll only answer your question with a link to my challenge group."
This made me want to make sure she got credit for my business, because of what seems to be the integrity that is sorely lacking in a lot of "coaches."

It's gotten harder and harder to actually find answers to questions on these boards. Because instead of helping each other and waiting for good karma to pay it back, too many are only willing to help people AFTER they've helped them. I swear just about everytime I do a search on the boards to answer a question, the only place I find actual answers is in threads that are a few years old. Newer threads, all the answers are, "Buddy me and I can help you. And join my support thread!" Even to questions like, "My DVD won't play."

Imagine you walk into a store trying to pick out a widget. You want to learn a little about the widget before you buy. Store A, you ask about the widget, and the salesman says, "Buy the widget, then I'll tell you about it." Store B, you ask about the widget, and the salesman tells you about the widget. Now after salesman B answers your question, you might not buy the widget, might realize it doesn't fit your needs. But how likely are you to buy the widget in store A?

well i have to say... I am a new Coach from Canada and I, too, have noticed this on these boards and have been turned off. I actually stopped posting on the boards and just found some groups on facebook (with my coach) and posted on those daily. (for the last 11 months)
So I too, understand the turnoff.

I understand that Beachbody Coaches are wanting to get their commissions and such, but in the end I think that WE all need support and motivation from a number of places, and think that it is very sad that some are not willing to help without the 'change in coaches'

I am an RN, and I can't imagine having a patient ask for something, and I turn around and say "sorry, I can't help you, I'm not your nurse"
Can you imagine?! I may not be able to help immediately for some things, but I would be asking their nurse the needed questions in order to help. We are a TEAM!

It was my understanding that this is TEAM BEACHBODY, am I right?!

I genuinely have commented on questions and posts, without the need for someone to change to me, but I notice that sometimes the thread becomes a group... and you get added on facebook, but then need to be part of the challenge group and start on same dates, etc.
It really can be discouraging for people who would like to connect with more people.

If you would like to join my thread for encouragement, motivation, and accountability... please do!
I have a thread in TurboFire Category called "TurboFire Addict & Need Accountability. Join Now. No restrictions" and you don't have to only be doing TurboFire... That is my program and I am a TurboFire-A-Holic but I'd love to have others join as well emoticon

I agree with Jason. You can join any thread you like. You may not get your questions answered by the coach that started the thread, but you will probably get a response from someone else on the thread. The only reason you should change your coach is if they are unresonsive and not provding the support and motivation you need. Go for it !

I just signed up as a coach, but have felt the same thing about the pressure you describe on the page. It turns people off and turns people away. Try to navigate around it and find those folks that will really help you and not just try to sell it to you. Good luck with your fitness and keep a right mind to achieve your goals.

You have to send an email and the coaches name and ID to Beachbody. The coach you want to change to should be able to help you with that. The email address is coachrelations@teambeachbody.com.

I agree its hard to find answers on the boards nowadays, but the BB staff seems to be working harder at cutting down the "buddy me/check my team" answers. I found a coach that I liked and thats where I got my answers. I've recently seen more coaches answers questions in the boards directly so hopefully it will be better soon.
