I am starting P90x and need help figuring out the amount of calories I need to gain muscle. Previously, I did Insanity and asylum so my calorie intake was around 1300. I know that isnt the right amount to gain muscle but I dont want to over do it.

Weight- 150lbs
Height- 6 foot 2 inches
Age- 18

Hi,

For your height and weight your minimum is 1800 calories, 1300 calories is way too low. To gain weight you need about 2800 calories while doing P90X, and keep reps at 8 to 10. If you can do 12, use more weight.

Yes, I know is a lot of calories. I would do that gradually. You are in 1300, have 1800 the first month (you will get 330 calories just on 2 portions of almonds) And see how your body is responding.

Coach Alberto is right 2800 would be a good starting point. You need a surplus in calories to grow. Make sure your eating clean and you should be fine. I would suggest -protein 1g/lb of body weight
-fats. .45g/lb of body weight
Carbs to fill in the rest of your caloric allotment . If you feel your gaining to fast ( more than .5-1lb a week) adjust you calories.
