May I replace 2 meals with a shake?
I started Shakeology about three weeks ago along with the P90X program. I love them both!!!

I actually would like to replace two meals with a shake instead of just one, and I'll explain why. I'm not a huge breakfast eater; I don't eat eggs and don't particularly enjoy lots of grease (i.e. bacon, sausage) so early in the morning or the monotony of oatmeal every single day. I eat a hearty lunch every day and at the very least one snack mid-afternoon. When I have the time (and remember), I'll also do a mid-morning snack. I do my workouts when I get home from work. By the time I finish the workout, rest a bit and take a shower it's around 8:30/9:00pm, and I don't end up real hungry.

It's worth mentioning that I always add some fruit to the shakes and do them with skim milk instead of water.

Is it a good idea to replace breakfast and dinner (some days, not all) with a shake? I want to ensure I won't be doing damage if I go that route.

Hi there!

That's awesome that you're loving both Shakeology and P90X! Both really are great!

In my opinion, I don't see anything wrong with having two shakes as day, as long as you're still hitting your daily calorie requirements (not being too restrictive, especially in combination with P90X) and feel you have enough energy. My daily intake ranges from 1800-2000 cal and there's lots of days where I'll have two shakes; I always have one post-workout for breakfast but will also sometimes have one as an afternoon snack or as "dessert" after dinner if I'm still feeling hungry.

Hope this helps a little!

You can use Shakeology to replace two meals, but you should look at all the angles. Having too low of a calorie goal with any exercise program is not a good idea. But if you are making recipes than you will be okay.

Also, I recommend getting some healthy fats in your diet as using Shakeology to replace two meals often means less of a chance to get them somewhere in your day. You can add healthy fats such as Almond Butter in your Shakeology.

The reason I say this, is becuase fats help slow the aborption rate (and therefore your blood suger levels) in addition to have numersous, helahty properties. Often, my lady clients get mad cravings for food at night and it's becuase they avoid good fats for fear of getting "fat."

Doubling up on vitamins is okay if they come from plant sources. However, meat sources and or synthetic vitamins can lead to toxic levels. (I'm specifically talking about Vitamin A) The Vegan flavors like the]Tropical Strawberry Shakeology[link cut] do not use syntheitc vitamins so if one of your Shakes is either the Vegan formulas that you are all set to go.
