Body Beast with P90X bars?

Does anybody know how the P90X bars compute into the Body Beast nurtition plan? Any information would be appreciated. I start the Beast today (3200 calories? woah...) and have a couple of boxes of P90X bars I would like to use to help get my calories there...

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that Sagi is not in favor of protein bars at all. If you're using them to bulk up on calories I'd just figure the numbers according to the grams of protein, carb and fat on the bar labels.

Yeah, I know he's not a fan of soy, but I have several of these left and am struggling to reach the 3200 calories. I figure these will help while I have them and then once I run out I will find another way to get the calories. Do you know what category the carbs would fall in or anything like that?

Here is what I put down so far for it: 260 calories, 2 servings of protein, 1 serving of fat (maybe 2?), 1 legume/protein liquid, and 1 starch. Anybody have a better idea of how to break that down?

Sagi says protein bars are a no go unless you make em' yourself from healthy ingredients.

Too high in sugar my friend. You want less than 45g of sugar a day to stay healthy as a male adult and to get the best results.

However if you decide to include em' anyways, just track your macros with something like Myfitnesspal or Loseit and enter the nutrition label in there.

You won't find it in their portion plan / grocery list.

Thanks for weighing in, Jacob. I was hoping you were watching this thread. How is your Body Beast program going, anyway?

I also have a question on the protein portions. The book says 1 oz of chicken is 1 serving of protein and that a serving of protein is 45 calories. From my knowledge, 4 oz of chicken is usually about 110 calories, meaning 1 ounce is maybe 27-28 calories which would put it closer to 2 ounces of chicken for a serving. Am I figuring something wrong?

For simplicity's sake, we offered poultry as an average of all those meats listed. If you have a varied diet, it should all balance out. That said, according to the USDA, one ounce of cooked chicken breast is 46 calories. Maybe you were thinking of raw.

I was definitely going by raw. That should clear it all up. I appreciate the answers AdStaffDenis

It's an understandable mix-up, Robert, since most of the BB nutrition plans like P90X go by raw weight on meat.
