Headaches Normal?
Headaches Normal?
11/5/12 1:17 PM
So, I just started the journey this morning and the workout was kind-of what I expected. I've been eating cleanly all day (abnormal for me). Is it normal to have a headache and feel as though my eyes are sinking in their sockets? I feel horrible, and believe it or not, my chest and back are already stiff as Hades!

It's not a pounding headache, but it's been prevalent enough to keep me from being as social as I typically am. I've been quiet all day at work, and that's "so" not me.

Yes, I'm drinking a lot of water, too. I think I've "hit the head" 20 times today. LOL

If it is just a mild headache I wouldn't worry about it too much, if it continues for a long period of time then there might be need for concern. You mentioned not normally eating cleanly so your body might be not enjoying the not getting the bad food it had gotten in the past (like when you quit coffee cold turkey) Also, take a look at your calorie intake and make sure you are not eating too little, that could be causing it as well. When I started my 120 lb weight loss I had headaches for the first week or so and a lot of times it was due to withdrawals or not eating enough.

Hope that helps,
Justin

Body is going through detox. Withdrawals from high sugar or high sodium can be brutal. Hang tight. It'll go away in a couple days.

Yes, this is completely normal. It can last for a few days or for a couple weeks. It is your natural reaction to the lack of sugar and non-complex carbohydrates. You WILL get used to it, I promise. I know it is really difficult now, but stay hydrated and get lots of sleep and you'll be out of this cycle soon enough.

Thanx! I crashed pretty hard when I got home, and fully intend on going to bed in about an hour. I usually go to sleep at 1-2AM and get up at 5AM. 4AM on this program. I guess a little sleep couldn't hurt.

I feel a little better right now... good thing. I think Plyo is tomorrow... ugh...

I'm on my 16th day of P90X and I start having these horrible headaches when I almost done with my workout, what did you do to rid of your headaches ?

@crochette...
Be sure you're drinking enough water during and after your workouts. Another thing to peek at is if you are clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth when you're working out. If you're lifting, sometimes people make these crazy faces and it strains the jaw which can also lead to headaches.
You're body is probably detoxing. Drink water to help facilitate it =)

Also watch your breathing. Sometimes people hold their breath or pant which can also cause headaches. See it all the time in class =)
Good luck!
