Hi Everyone!

I've been doing p90x for about a month and a half. Unfortunately I can't do it every day but I do get in at least three workouts a week. There is also one week a month when I can't work out at all. emoticon However, I just finished day 17 and I've seen some results. I'm definitely stronger than I was when I started. I could hardly do any push ups and now I can do several! emoticon I haven't lost any weight but I don't really watch what I eat. I'm struggling with that right now because I have always been able to eat whatever I want and I think it's finally catching up with me...I'm not as young as I used to be.

Anyway, I'm wondering if I will really benefit from the program even though I cannot work out every day. Does anyone else have experience with having to do every other day? I used to exercise all the time until I had my daughter two years ago and have found myself wanting to spend more time with her and less time at the gym. So, I'm hoping to still see some results even though I can't commit every day. Do you all do the workouts every day? If you miss a day, do you pick up where you left off? Just looking for a little advice, motivation, and peer support. emoticon Hope you're doing well!

-Jess

Just be consistent with what you can do. Doing it three days a week is better than no days each week! I definitely don't get in all 6 days each week of TurboFire, but I finally just had to accept that's better than giving up and not working out at all. Sure, we won't see results as fast as those who do put that kind of time in, but we WILL get results!

Hi Jessi! If you are listening to Tony - his motto is 'do your best and forget the rest'. I haven't taken P90X - but I have done another one of his programs. He does have really good advice.

Being a mom is a full time guilt trip - but it shouldn't be. Been there - done that. Nuff said.

Doing what you can when you can is better than doing nothing at all.

So - my advice is to lose the guilt, enjoy the trip and set a good example to your family. emoticon

Cheers,
Susan

Hi Jess!

Absolutely agree with the above posts! 3x/week is better than none!! I totally believe in finding and doing what works for the individual! Just stick with what works for you! emoticon

Keep pushing play! You will get there emoticon
You get farther with smaller steps than you do with none emoticon

Agree with all the posts, do what you can!

My only advice though...nutrition is as important if not more than the workouts themselves.

So if you want them to be effective, you do need to apply yourself in following proper nutrition emoticon

If you have any question, don't hesitate!

As everyone said, you do your best and forget the rest. If you can wake up earlier to do your workouts everyday then that would be great. Just follow the schedule and if you miss a day or two continue where you left off.

Nutrition will be where the majority of your results will come from, so make sure that every, and most important the days you dont workout that you eat clean and healthy foods. I suggest you use a tool website like myfitnesspal or loseit to track your calories.

If the reason you cant workout every day is the length of the workouts, have you thought about doing 10 Minute trainer from Tony Horton?

So, your question is, essentially, will you benefit from doing sporadic exercise rather than none at all. Absolutely. Can you benefit from getting off the coach and walking around the block? YES. Can you benefit from choosing vegetables over sweets? YES.

YES. You can benefit from working out 3x a week over NOTHING. emoticon

Thank you all for the tips and encouragement! I didn't workout much in December so I decided to start over today. Just finished day 1 of week 1 and I actually did a dive bomber push up! emoticon I also decided to eat more healthy foods this time around so hopefully I'll see more results.
Thanks for the tip to use the 10 minute trainer! I didn't know about that and it would definitely help me get in a workout every day. emoticon
Great idea to remember I'm setting an example for my family that exercise is important!

Glad to hear you are back at it! I too have recently fell off track - December was a total bust! For me - I find eating well and working out hard to stick with - but changing behavior and habits does take time. I am focused on how I can try again and do it better to ensure I can stick with it. We will succeed!

All the best to you and keep pressing play!

Cheers,
Susan

I let my 4 year old and 2 year old 'work out' with me. They mostly just jump around while I do my workout and then after 5 to 10 minutes they wander away. emoticon But they know that I workout every day and they know that it is good for them to get exercise in, even at such a young age.
