2 Weeks In and Need Advice - Might Be a Bra Issue?
I am about 2 weeks into BodyPump. I have been exercising all summer (thinning trees and feeding burn piles on our land), bought a great bike too. Since winter has hit here in MT, my bike is on a trainer and I decided to try BodyPump for weight training.

Earlier this week, after completing Pump and Burn, I noticed pain around the area where my HRM chest strap sits. Not just in the front either, around my back as well. There are no visible signs of skin irritation. I tightened the HRM chest strap. I am not sure if this is due to an ill-fitting bra or the workout. I have tried BodyGlide and ibuprofen. I have just been biking the rest of the week thinking this might be a muscle issue from the workout. I am not sure though, and need some serious advice. I am not busty by any means - I carry my weight in other places. I lifted free weights in high school and college, so I believe my form to be correct.

Looking forward to wise advice!

Hello Lori,

I personally have to wear 3 sports bras. Make sure the bra is not over the strap and that the strap is not too snug because it will leave ridges and also cut off circulation. You won't feel it at first and then you will feel it as the blood rushes to the area. Happens to me sometimes when I gain and lose weight but don't adjust the strap. Hope this helps.

Sounds like maybe your bra or is your HRM older? I'd move it around or consider a new bra or HRM

Hey Lori!

Ouch!! That stinks that it has hurt even past the time you worked out! Since it was your first time tightening the HRM around your chest, I'd say it is that. Is your HRM where you can wear it on your wrist? I know your chest gives you a more accurate read, but good golly, if it hurts days after I think the less accurate read is worth it so you can stay active on the other days without feeling pain. Does that make sense?

How do you like Body Pump? Is it your first strength workout? I have been eyeballing it, but I haven't bought it yet (I will in the next 2 weeks probably). Do you have a favorite workout? How do you like the meal plan?

Hi Lori,

How is your chest feeling now? Did you figure out what was causing the pain?

How is PUMP going? I just ordered it!! I'm so excited to try it! Any tips?
