I'm nearly finished the second month of insanity but cannot lose my lower belly fat! Before doing insanity i lost 28 pounds and I became a normal weight for my height, age etc. I'm now 138 pounds and i am 5ft8 in height! I started insanity to tone up but i cannot shift this last bit of fat from my belly, should i start again? Ant suggestions welcome emoticon

Hey! Great job with Insanity! Especially with nearing the end! Keep up the great work! emoticon

Now the biggest question I have. What is your nutrition like?

Congrats on finishing up Insanity! Don't get down on yourself or your results--that is a huge accomplishment! Plus your weight is great! emoticon

Lower abs are a LOT of people's problem areas. I know my diet has the biggest effect on my abs. If I eat very clean (which is what the insanity nutrition guide is), I have been luck with my abs. It's because you have a 6 pack from all of the workouts, but your diet will help get any fat or bloat off your abs. Does that make sense? Do you know how many calories you should be eating? I have some meal plans I use if you need ideas too....my lower abs are tough for me too.

I would recommend doing the program again if you are enjoying it still. If you want a change, have you looked at TurboFire or ChaLEAN? TurboFire is just as intense as Insanity I think and it really works your core. ChaLEAN is strength training which helps you burn more fat, but I would do a hybrid of it and Insanity (I have one I've used I can send you if you want). Do you think any of those ideas would help?

Switch over to resistance training, it'll definitely allow your body to get to that low body fat / elite status you're looking for. Lift heavy in good form. P90X or Body Beast would be a good choice, but make sure you have a good set of dumbbells to choose from.

You may also want to consider intermittent fasting to blast away those troublesome areas.

Maybe my nutrition is the problem, should i be eating calories to lose weight or maintain it because i don't want to lose to much weight, it's just the lower ab fat really! If anybody can help with a meal plan it would be appreciated. For breakfast i was eating fruit and fibre cereal, a slice if wholegrain bread and peanut butter, mid morning snack was non fat greek yoghurt, tbsp of honey and a banana, lunch was 2 scrambled eggs and maybe some chicken or chicken with letteuce, tomato, cucumber, beetroot, spring onion, Snack again would be grapes or handful of peanuts, Dinner broccoli, carrots, grilled pork, maxi milk protein shake.

So far your nutrition looks good! What I would recommend doing is try using something like myfitnesspal.com to track your daily calorie intake. You may be taking in to little! Try that all day today or tomorrow and let us know exactly what you are taking in. Did you do the math in the Nutrition guide so you can see your daily calorie goal?

I don't know too much about P90x, what is it? Do i need equipment? Is this effective for toning up problem areas?

I know what you mean! I'd say that if you wanna lose the belly, I'd say make it so that you could lose! Not an overly large amount, but to tone it will definitely help out!

And both P90X and Body Beast are great programs! You will need equipment though for both! A chin-up/pull-up bar and either dumbbells or Bands for P90X, and those but replace bands with Dumbbells and a barbell for beast! Have you looked into trying and checking into The Asylum yet? I love that program, and it will mix in weight/resistance band training while also upping the intensity you're used to from Shaun T!

Haven't tried insanity Asylum? What does it involve? What do you think would be best to do for my goal, now I'm finished insanity? Do you need equipment for the asylum?

I checked my calories in on my fitness during insanity and a lot of the time they were a few hundred calories under, so is this the problem? By eating too little calories is it harder to lose fat?

I tried, and loved Insanity Asylum volume 1! I actually liked it more than I did Insanity if truth be told! I think fitness wise it would be a great next step for you! It will definitely push you even further pass the limitations your mind may think you have! Now you do get shipped the agility ladder and speed rope which are truly the core of Asylum! You could definitely look into the Deluxe version if you're looking for max results cause it will also have the pull up bar! And you will need either some resistance bands which can be purchased relatively low cost or use dumbbells! Either will work out! I'd definitely take a look at the video/infomercial on this site in the videos section and judge for yourself if its something you are interested in!

And to answer your calorie question. If its like 100-200 under then it won't be a big deal! But if we're talking more than that then I would up your intake! Taking in too little calories will make it tougher to keep losing weight/fat!

Absolutely, taking too little calories will affect your ability to lose fat. I second the P90x route and do a P90x/Insanity hybrid while eating around 2000 calories a day. You'd be amazed at how you'll look in 30 days if you could do that. Your 90 day results would be absolutely awe-inspiring. emoticon

For equipment, you could just go with resistance bands or get a pair of 5's, 10's, 15's and 20's dumbbells OR just buy an adjustable weight set for $50 at wal-mart that goes from 5 pounds to 25 pounds.

Resistance training is absolutely the way to go to help shape your body and lose that last stubborn body fat.

I'd say keep eating what you're eating and add in a protein shake for about 4-500 calories and see where that gets you. Plus eat a handful of almonds a day. emoticon That's 500 to 600 extra calories right there.

Thanks for all the advice you are all so helpful emoticon I heard about the P90x/insanity hybrid before might give that a go but don't know where to get started. Is there a plan for this workout?

Basically, you have 3 resistance days and 3 cardio days with P90x.

Switch out the non resistance days with Insanity workouts.

So on Mon, Wed, Fri, you'd do Chest and Back, Shoulders and Arms, then Legs and Back

On Tues, Thurs, Sat you'd do, Pure Cardio, Cardio Power and Resistance, Plyometric cardio circuit

Something along those lines. Basically I just took the cardio days as 'whatever Insanity video I wanted to do' days and saw great results. You can even put yoga in on thursdays instead of the cardio and that'll help strengthen your core even more plus it gives you another 'off' day.

But really, do what you feel comfortable with. You're at a point where you know more about where you want to be and you can dial in better to get the best you can out of a workout.

Depending on how hard you worked out that day I would say to increase it by 300-500!

In your case I'd recommend doing P90X, instead of the P90X / Insanity hybrid. More intense cardio isn't the answer to breaking through those troublesome areas, that comes from increasing muscle mass and body recomposition. If you're doing insane cardio like Insanity it makes it almost impossible to add any muscle mass.

Plyometrics and Kenpo are appropriately designed to allow a decent calorie burn, get a good workout, and still keep an anabolic environment.

That's just my opinion though.

As far as your nutrition, make sure you're specific. You listed your diet which looks fine. For example today I had:

Vegetables
151 Grams

Tortillas, Corn
4 Servings

Tilapia Loins
351 Grams

Avocado, Raw
134 Grams

Bread, Double Fiber
36 Grams

Egg,organic Brown
3 Servings

Chicken, Boneless, Skinless
202 Grams

Bbq Sauce
24 Grams

Gotta be specific for them results and troublesome areas to go away! Intermittent fasting does wonders for trouble areas as well.

Lower abs are especially difficult for men because they have different kinds of receptors that are usually only triggered when the body has been in a fasted state for a certain period of time. I eat all my calories in an 8 hour window, usually 1-9pm, and the other 16 hours I'm fasted only drinking water.

I also exercise at around the 15 hour fasted mark and have plenty of energy, breaking my fast only after my workout with a huge meal. Love it!
