Has anyone here done their own diet version of p90x with good results?
So I'm starting P90X on Monday.

Some stats:

height: 6'1
weight: 224 lbs
bodyfat: around 30%

Now, I'm truly gung ho and excited about starting. I am going to Hawaii in 6 months which would give me enough time to do 2 full rounds of p90x program and I want to take off my shirt and for the first time feel good about myself.

The ONLY thing that's concerning me is the diet. Yes, I know I would probably get the very best results by following the p90x nutritional guide to a T. But I would much rather do my own version of a diet.

First of all, I have been doing intermittent fasting for a little while now and I'm very used to it so it would be very difficult for me to make the adjustment from only eating 2 to 3 meals per day to 5 meals per day. That's just too time consuming! Secondly, I was planning on not eating the suggested 3,000 cals per day but 2,000 instead. My version of 'clean' eating consists of grilled chicken sandwiches with a little mayo, hamburger helper with lean ground beef, scrambled eggs (with yolk) bacon and wheat toast, black beans, apples, organic peanut butter, roast with potatoes carrots and asparagus, chicken salad sandwiches with a little mayo, ham and cheese sandwiches on wheat, etc. I also drink one protein shake per day and drink lots of water. No junk food or sodas.

Again, I know most will say follow the exact p90x diet plan but my question is, have any of you done your own thing like I'm wanting to do and still got great results?

You can follow your own plan if you want to, but know that nutrition is KEY! We have a few people in our group right now that are dropping fat while doing intermittent fasting. Also if the guide suggest that you eat 3000calories I dont think it would be wise to eat only 2000. Eating less can put you in starvation mode and your body will stop burning the fat and start storing it. I suggest you cut out the bacon and replace it with turkey bacon or chicken bacon, there's a lot of bad fat in there. Also the mayo you can replace with mustard, avocadoes or guacamole. You can replace the potatoes with sweet potatoes if you like those. Try eating more veggies, egg whites instead of eggs. I dont think hamburger helper is considered healthy, you can make your own its very simple. Good choice on the black beans, apples and organic peanut butter.

If you have any more questions feel free to contact me or post here, I will do my best to answer all your questions.
