Lean for Life or repeat
Lean for Life or repeat
11/17/12 6:14 PM
I just completed the lean phase. I am very happy with my results so far. As far as weight loss goes I only lost 5 pounds over the entire 3 months, but my body composition has changed greatly. I have been doing the program as it is written, mixing up the cardio and yoga with the deluxe DVDs, along with throwing in a couple of the Turbo Jam workouts each week, and a 45 minute jog once a week. I still have a little bit of body fat I'd like to lose. My question is, Should I go into the Lean for life phase or should I repeat the program from the beginning?

Lean for life is more for maintenance. Go another round since you want to lose that bit of fat.

Congrats on finishing your first round!! Which phase was your favorite? Burn is mine, but I love them all. How close are you to your goal weight? I would recommend starting over like Solana said, but what if you did a straight hybrid instead? I LOVE ChaLEAN mixed with the Turbo workouts. I use TurboFire, but I also have a hybrid for ChaLEAN and TurboJam you may like. Would you like me to message it to you?

Did you follow the meal plans in ChaLEAN as well? Your diet is 70-80% of your results so it's worth figuring out your calories and following the meal plan...if you need any help don't hesitate to ask. I've been doing ChaLEAN off and on for 2 years--I love how effective and fast the workouts are.

Congratulations on finishing your first round!! I definitley recommend another round over the lean for life "phase" any day. I tried it at one point and found the circuits from all three phases mushed together to be clumsy, and because there are different focuses in the 1, 2, and 3 between phases, you don't end up working everything as equally as you do in each phase. Also, the point of the phases is to switch it up every month and keep the body guessing...

I suppose what I'm trying to say is go for another round - you'll be impressed with the gains you've made when you compare your first round weights with your second round weights ;) I'm pretty sure I doubled or even tripled on most of my upper body work (I was pretty weak to begin with, but I'm still proud emoticon)

Good luck with it, enjoy the ride, and go heavy or go home!!

Thank you. I didn't really have a favorite phase. I loved them all.

I am not sure anymore what my goal weight is. I am 48 years old, 5'2", and I weigh 123 lbs. Four years ago I weighed 176 lbs. I had gotten down to 116 pounds. My husband recently went through cancer treatment (he is fine now, thank God) and through it all I got back up to 128 pounds. After finishing Chalean I am in better shape at 123 lbs. than I was at 116 lbs. I am now more focused on body comp than weight.

I have the TurboFire program as well as the TurboJam. I have the TurboFire/ChaLEAN hybrid. It would be great if you could send me the TuroJam/ChaLEAN hybrid.

Now that I have finished the first cycle should I take a week off before starting the second round?

I basically follow the eating plan. I pretty much eat a 40/30/30 diet with an occaisional free day. My greatest confusion is whether or not I have my calorie intake is at the correct amount. I consume between 1650 and 1800 calories a day.

Wow, I'm so glad you husband is okay! I love your focus on body composition over weight! emoticon That is great!

I would take the day off to recover from the phase. You could do Recharge, Core 20, and Stretch 40 during your recovery week. How long do you have to workout each day? I have a regular hybrid, a 2-a-day hybrid jenelle from the workouts made, and a modified Jenelle hybrid. I sent you a buddy request, will you add me and I will send you links to whichever or all 3 and you can choose which one emoticon

Have you tried myfitnesspal? It helps me know exactly how much I've eaten each day. I have also put a heart rate monitor on my christmas list so I can figure my calories burned easily. Have you looked at those?

Thank You, SoreyFitness. I have plenty of time in my day to workout. If you could send all three hybrids that would be great.

I use something similar to Myfitnesspal to track my nutrition, it's called Myfatsecret. Both of those programs come up with around 1500 calories a day for me, which I know is not enough. The calculator on here gives me 1900 which seems a little more accurate. I am hitting about 1750 on an average day. I guess I willl stay here for a couple weeks then adjust if I need to.

I have a heart rate monitor. I use it when I do my cardio. I am not sure how accurate they are for calorie burn though. The amount of calories we burn has to do with our bodies oxygen level and the monitor doesn't know that.

Thank you for your help. I am doing cardio and core this week and plan to start Chalean Extreme again on Friday. I am excited to see what a second round has in store for me. I have this dream of what I want to took like by the time I am 50. I have 2 years to get there....lol
