Les mills pump warmup and cooldown
I just started the program and am still in the first week. I was hoping someone could clarify something for me. While I am doing the pump challenge there is no warmup or cooldown in the program. All the other programs I have done start with several minutes of warmup then end with several minutes of cooldown. Am I missing something or do they just assume we will know what to do and are supposed to do this on our own. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Cypress,

I'm not super familiar with the program, however, as a fitness professional I can tell you that you should always do active/dynamic stretching before every workout. Also, do static stretching for your cool downs.

With the rest of the pump workouts, they do a 5 min warm up and 5 min cooldown. And, there is the flow dvd for extra stretching if you need it. In between each workout in the other dvds, there is also a quick stretch.

The pump challenge is more of a "basics" dvd and quite short so the warmup/cooldown is not as necessary. But I was surprised they didn't have a segment in there since they have them in all the other dvds...You can always do a little stretching before/after.

Stick with it, it's a great program!

Thanks. I have not gotten to the other workouts yet, but am definitely happy to hear they do include warm ups/cooldowns in the other workouts

I would recommend doing your own warmup. I have been doing BB programs for 4 years and the others I have done all have a good warmup. I started Les Mills Pump, and while I really like it, I started having problems with my hamstrings due to the dead lifts. Especially my left hamstring, it was constantly pulled and tight, even though I stopped doing Les Mills Pump. I had to do excessive stretching and other techniques before working out or playing soccer. Unfortunately, solved the problem by breaking my ankle playing soccer - the left foot - so the left hamstring is now all healed emoticon Anyway, when I go back to Les Mills Pump after my ankle is healed, I will probably do an Insanity warm up before beginning the work out.

Thanks for the help. I have to say I am surprised that a workout has no warmup/cooldown, but will incorporate my own when doing the Pump Challenge. I will be starting using a different disc next week and heard that they have a short warmup. If it is not sufficient I will have to add more but I am still looking forward to the program.
