I’m starting my round of P90X2. In 2012 I completed 1 round of P90X, 1 round of Insanity and 1 round of P90X/Insanity Hybrid. I follow a low carb diet (Atkins) and aside from fat loss I have experienced other health benefits from eliminating corn syrup, white flour and other simple carbohydrates. I started Atkins November 2011 and P90X Jan 2012, in November I weighed 240 lbs (~39/40 inch waist), and after nearly a year of healthier eating and exercise I currently weigh ~ 193 lbs (36 inch waist). I have lots of room for improvement, during the past year I skipped many work out days and I love wine and beer but overall I stuck with each program and finished. The most important transformation over the past year isn’t the weight loss or the improved fitness, it is my realization that these are not 60 or 90 day programs. These are 365 days a year programs to be completed over a lifetime. No breaks, no going back to old habits.

My goal is to lean out (lose another 10lbs) and continue to improve my overall fitness and health. My accountability pictures are from two weeks ago. Since then I have cut down on beer/wine, snacking on almonds and reduced the number of Atkins bars that I eat. I probably added 1000 cal a day on just eating almonds and didn’t realize it until I started using MyFitnessPal. I would pour a bunch in a ziplock baggie and eat them on my way to work and then grab a bunch more before and after dinner.

The goal of this thread is to take my accountability to the higher level. I get motivated from reading other threads, especially the threads with accountability pics and diet tracking. Please feel free to join…..

I’m 45 years old, 3 kids (8, 13, 15) and a great wife that works out daily. She’s a great motivation to me and many mornings she left our bedroom at 5am to work out to Chalene or Tony while I stayed in bed, “oh the guilt”. We did our first round of P90X in May of 2010, she continued working out and I did a lot of starting and stopping. That was the past and I plan on finishing 2012 strong and having a great 2013.

Started Program on Saturday - Day 1
X2 Core - Still Need to figure out the moves to fully enjoy this work out, because I felt awkward and uncoordinated. I didn't finish the work out with the Insanity or P90X fully tired feeling -I love that feeling

I had 3 Beers and 1.5 glasses of wine so I went over my calorie goal by 345 calories

Totals Cal 2,545 Carbs 143 Fat 109 Protein 144 Fiber 45


Sunday Day 2 Took my first Yoga Class - It was a beginning class so it was not anything like P90X yoga but it was physically beneficial. I liked the slower pace and emphasis on the nuances of correct poses. I had a blast, it was nice to complete a workout outside the house. I plan on taking more classes in addition to this round of P90X2.

Monday Day 3 Plyocide
Challenging session - Frustrated a bit by the new moves, more complex than Insanity or X. After X2 Core, I felt that I just wanted a good sweat but I was held back by not knowing the routine.
Took an evening "Yoga for Backs" class - The instructor is a physical therapist, and she combined techniques she learned in her profession with Yoga moves. This week she concentrated on opening the shoulders, I learned some great stretches and my shoulders feel wonderful

Under my calorie count by ~400 calories

Totals Calories 1,812 Carbs 96 Fat 111 Protein 106 Fiber 37


Missed my workout Tuesday morning - I'll be working out this evening - thinking about P90X Back and Bicep workout in lieu of rest or X2 Mobility....

Day 4 - X2 Total Body and ARX2 Complete
A few comments about the work out
I struggled with the one arm balance push ups on the two basketballs i use, I actually couldn't do one balance move. I really look forward to mastering that move.
Balance tricep kickbacks on the stability ball was intense. I'm going to have to somehow modify the one arm chest press, 30lbs is not nearly enough weight for that move, may just have to do regular push ups.

Diet was good today - Ate only one Atkins Bar, no alcohol, no junk food and I kept my carbs down

Total Calories 1,702 Carbs 75 Fat 105 Protein 117 Fiber 25

Day 5 YogaX2 Complete
I liked the faster pace, the Warrior 3 poses and the pigeon stretch. I couldn't do the pigeon stretch in Kenpo so going from downward dog into the stretch made the start up for the stretch easy, hurts so good. YogaX2 is not as difficult as YogaX but that is ok, I'll work on going deeper into the poses and mastering the nuances.

Just finish my Greek Yogurt with flax seeds and almond slivers and finishing my second cup of coffee. Time to get to work.

X2 Balance and Power tomorrow morning and then a family hike before the big Feast. I may go to a yoga class tonight, we'll see. I have people coming in next week for business so that may hamper my works out next week, gotta get my workouts in while I can. Never know what tomorrow brings.

Day 6 - Did 2/3 of X2 Balance and Power. We planned a hike and I woke up later than I needed to. I actually could have finished but the smell of coffee and kids eating breakfast distracted me enough to say I needed to eat and get ready for our hike.

Finished a 2 hour hike with the wife, two kids and my dog Tessa. Agua Caliente Hike in Tucson - Between Moderate and Difficult hike and we had to push ourselves to get back in time. Very proud of both my 8yr old girl and 13 yr old son, my wife and I are strong hikers and they matched us step for step - I'm spent and laying down watching the football game before i have to go to my Aunt's for Food and Beverage.

We crossed paths with a 70 yr old man hiking with two ski poles, I plan on using that for motivation the next time I don't feel like working out.

Happy Thanksgiving All - I will post my meals tomorrow - I plan on some wine and maybe a beer or two

Thanksgiving Report: I did very well with the meal, I stuck to the proteins and had just a bit of mashed potatoes and a bit of dressing. I fell flat with desert and I ate an entire slice and a 1/2 of pumpkin pie loaded with whipped cream. Why didn't I stop at one piece? emoticon

Drank several glasses of red wine and three beers - I didn't put any of it into fitpal but i estimate 3,500 calories for the day - Not good

Back to the routine today - slept in, taking the kids and dog to the park.
I have Rest and Mobility workout this afternoon.

I almost skipped today's workout but guilt got the best of me. I'm willing to open my mind and give the foam rolling an honest try.
I look forward to repeating X2 Core tomorrow and comparing my week one results.

Week 2 Day 1 X2 Core
I enjoyed this workout much better the second time around partly because I'm slightly more familiar with the work out but mostly because I paused and rewound every move that I was not familiar with or if the move felt awkward I rewound and started over. I beat every number from week 1 and kept pace with many of the moves. I'm using a basketball for my med ball and it kept moving on me while I was doing 3 speed med ball push-ups. The core circles hit the spot and the plank burped on stability ball are a killer for me. After much resistance, I'm beginning to fall in love with X2

Drank 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine last night, other than that my diet was good. I know it is contradictory to use the word good and alcohol in the same sentence.

Wife and kids are visiting Grandma today so I am on my own. Going to take my dog for a hike in a few minutes.

Week 2 Day 2 Plyocide Complete
I feel better about the program now that I'm more familiar with it. My core feels great and I'm even looking forward to Monday's workout. At 12:30 pm went to a Yoga for Back class with the wife, focused on stretches for the neck. The instructor is a PT and works both traditional stretches with Yoga stretches. My neck feels great.

Hey do you mind if i jump on this thread? I've been thru P90X 3 times, X2 once, and currently working out to BodyBeast with 2 weeks left. Then I'm gonna do a hybrid with BodyBeast and X2.
You and I are a lot alike I've been through a lot of programs but haven't yet completed a full 90 days without missing a day here or there, I would pick up where I left off but still took longer then it should have. And the dreaded Alcohol, I've made a new commitment, to put that stuff away, not totally quit but don't use it when I'm in the middle of a program, it really hinders my results, so much sugar in it!!
Today I did Beast Cardio, and man that program is a mix of Plyometrics, insanity, and BodyBeast, it really rocks. The workout is only 30 minutes, but I burned a total of 860 calories. Have a great night

Bill - Jump on in, I look forward to your input... The dreaded alcohol - I would be at 8% body fat otherwise. I've eliminated all other bad foods but the beer and wine are hard to shake

I'll do recovery tomorrow instead of today, as expected I got home very late from work tonight so the break tomorrow will be welcome.

Rabid, Hey thanx for letting me on. Yesterday was a schedule rest day, and tonight I'm bring it with BodyBeast Bulk Back. Yesterday I'm so glad to say that I didn't have any alcohol, that's been a first in many weeks. I have a total new focus especially after looking at myself on video working out, i thought to myself man your fat lol..that's only validation I needed, so I weigh myself today 236lbs 20 percent body fat.. Since I started Body Beast I've increased in weight 12 pounds due to muscle mass building and improper eating and drinking mostly the drinking. Yesterday I finished my food calorie on myfitnesspal and I was pretty pleased with that. My user name is BillNich if you want to look me up. Well off to work have a great day

Week 2 Day 4 Recovery and Mobility
Diet was good today - No alcohol and I was busier than normal with work today and I didn't eat a single Atkins Bar which is a first. I generally eat two a day and often three.

Bill - Realization always hits me when I look at picture of myself. On several occasions I've looked at a picture wondering who the fat guy is only to realize it was me. That is humbling. I've lost 45+ lbs and I still have another 10 to go.

Food's that boost your fitness performance.

It's all about increasing the oxygen delivered to your muscles HUGE PART OF IT!!

BEETS: Take 2 for a snack Reason the nitrate in the Beets help your blood vessels to dialate which is gonna increase the oxygen delivery to the muscle which is gonna help with your fitness performance.

Red Apples, Berry's, or Purple Grapes Things that have something that have something that's called corcitin in them, which also helps with ability to deliver oxygen to the muscles. {Jillian Michaels}

BodyBeast Bulk Back My workout went well, I pumped myself up with Redgrapes and fuelshot before and kept up with the video, 30 minutes of solid lifting weights I love it!! Total Burn was 571

Eric, I was falling asleep at my computer around 7:30pm, I woke up exhausted, then I had a mental battle, should I work out? or just skip it? Thank god for the inner strength winning tonight!!! I had a great arm workout, pushed myself really hard and kept up with the DVD. It was 35minutes long of serious IRON LIFTING!!! uuurrrrrroaaaarrrrr!!!! BEAST UUUUPPPPP!! Total Burn 523 calories

Also No Beer Yea!!!!

Week 2 Day 6 Balance and Power Complete
I had to stop and rewind several of the moves, I'm determined to master Phase I before I move to Phase II
1. Could do a single Decline Sphinx Plank Press - Must be my technique
2. Forearm Alt Side Plank - Fell of the ball, can't help but laugh
3. I think I did well otherwise, just need to increase the number of reps

Eric, The beautiful thing about X2, you can stay in that phase 1 until you do get it mastered, there's no pressure to get to the next phase if you're not ready, and that also applys to if you are ready then only do a couple of week in phase 1 then move into phase 2. I remember phase 3 it's no joke you work your butt off, in a good way!!
Like Tony Horton Always says do you're best and foret the rest. Nice Job!!

Week 2 Day 7 Substituted Rest and Recovery for Cardio X
That is a good short work out that gets the heart pumping.

On to week 3 tomorrow. For the month of November I worked out 27 of 30 days and 16 consecutive days was the longest stretch.
I'll take accountability photos after week 3 and report my weight and measurements.

Eric, nice job on cardio X, Your kicking but with all those workouts, I love your focus keep up the great work.



Yesterday, I did BodyBeast Cardio, and tonight I worked out to BodyBeast Build Chest/Tris. Now my arms tris & chest feel really tired, I pushed them hard. I also added a single set to the Bench press. Before the workout I had my son spot me on 205lb bench press, I benched it off the rack and lowered it down just fine but when is time to push up, we'll just say I have a lot of work to do..
