Harder Modifications for Ab Ripper X
Harder Modifications for Ab Ripper X
ab ripper x modification for abs

Hi all,

Has anyone else gotten to the point where Ab Ripper X is doable (not easy, but doable with clean form) with all of Tony's hardest modifications? I've been doing P90X and P90X2 for about a year now, and I recently reached the point where I can do all of these difficult versions and add a med ball to Mason Twist.

Obviously, I am worried that there may not be much more room to grow and improve if I do the same rep counts and modifications every time I do Ab Ripper X. Does anybody have any suggestions for ways to continue challenging myself with the same Ab Ripper routine without simply adding more repetitions? I want to keep the reps from going too high on these moves.

Thanks,
Andy

I use weighted vest and ankle weights when I do it seems to have helped a lot.

One of the key components to all the P90X stuff is muscle confusion. If you've been doing the workout for that long, maybe its time to find another AB routine.

Insanity has a much different type of routine, for example.

Thanks for the replies Bumpus & Marc. Both very good ideas. I guess I could try mixing it up with some X2 Ab Ripper (which I do have). I don't have the Insanity program, but surely doing something like alternating Ab Ripper X and X2 Ab Ripper would help out a little bit.

I also don't own a weighted vest or ankle weights unfortunately. Possibly I could hold a med ball to my chest on some of the moves to intensify.

Thanks for the input! More ideas are always welcome!
