DAY 17 OF INSANITY & ......
11/21/12 11:04 AM
Hi i am on day 17 & I feel my self getting bored doing the same workouts over & over agian even tho they are rotating days. I also feel frustrated because it seems as tho Insanity works out the legs more than anything. I have also not lost a pound! I am eating from the nutrition guide provided & still nothing. Maybe Insanity isn't what i thought it would be but i need some encouragement to get through the rest of this challenge.

Without knowing your build, previous activity level, how much you bring it, etc, it is hard to say for sure... however:

Are you keeping a food diary?
- I ask because the more I work out, the hungrier I get. It is easy to blow progress with calories binged.

How do you feel during and after workouts? Are you really pushing it? Are you covered in sweat?
- According to my Heart Rate Monitor I burn 400-600 calories per workout. I have to take more breaks than the models do. But I bring it, I'm getting leaner and faster.

As for the areas worked on, Insanity will make you fitter and faster. Your core is the main thing it improves, even more than legs. Chest and Triceps do harden, but this isn't a workout for bulking up the upper body.

I've worked with a lot of people doing Insanity and it seems almost unanimous, the 3rd week gets really tough and it's mostly mental. It's a hurdle you need to get through. Remember why you started, focus on your results during the workout, things will get better. It can be repetitive and it is mostly a leg workout, but you will get other benefits and your cardio endurance will never be better. Nutrition is a big key to results, but focus on the non scale stuff, how you feel (stronger, more energy), how your clothes fit etx. Did you take pictures on Day 1?

I was right there when I started. I didn't lose a single pound the first month. That was frustrating, but then decided to really dial in my nutrition, tracking everything I ate, and ended up losing 17 lbs the second month. I would really focus on tracking everything you eat and make sure you're hitting your calorie and macro goals and see how things go from there.

I feel the same way you do. I am on day 24 and getting bored out of mind. But I am pushing thru. I actually recruited my 9 year old to help keep me motivated. She puts on workout clothes but doesn't do much. I find it hilarious and that motivates me to keep pushing. Also I have not lost weight but I am toning up, I am able to fit a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in months. I can't wait til the 31st day. I get to do the new DVDs. Keep pushing!!!

I'm a few days ahead of you and am so glad month 1 is almost over! I agree, it gets to be repetitive...but I think I'm going to be missing these soon enough when the workouts are 10-15 minutes longer!

The scale can be really misleading. You can stay at the same weight, but lose fat and gain muscle. I gained two pounds during Asylum, but had much more definition at the end.

i only checked my weight on the second fit test. i dont check it everyday cuz i know thatll make me really impatient with the program. I can say i see a difference in the stomache area but i think thats just from cutting out my soda addiction lol but a start is a start & im pushing through emoticon

I am now entering the second month of phase 2, and within the 90 days of doing Insanity, I have lost 47 lbs. Keep in mind I am 6'2" and my start weight was 254.4. Keep pressing play and giving it all you got, and the weight will fall off. Trust me!

Don't give up emoticon I just completed month one and the recovery week so I know the feeling. I don't see a huge difference from the scale, but I have taken pictures almost weekly. It really does help to take pictures throughout this process...it helped me stay motivated. Just to give you a heads up, month 2 is tough. I felt like I lost two pounds from the first exercise in month two. Good luck, and keep pushing through!!!!!emoticon
