Day 20 and nothing has changed
Day 20 and nothing has changed
11/21/12 11:53 AM
I'm on day 20 of my workouts, which I admit I have had to double up a couple times from skipping days but I am watching my calories and cut out the junk and I don't seem to see a difference in weight or inches or anything. I'm constantly seeing people talking about how after a week they have lost weight or inches which doesn't seem realistic but at the same time I would think I would notice something...if not now hopefully by the end of the month, I am doing 60 days I just don't know if I'm being naive. Any experiences or advice?

Funny I was just watching Tony Horton talk about his test groups and saying how so many people were mad on Day 36 with the lack of changes, but by DAy 63 they were singing a different tune. Everyone is different and a lot depends on what you did before and what you started doing now as well as many othre factors. Nutrition is of course a big factor and a lot of poeple say they cut out junk, but are you tracking what you eat, do you have a calorie target? I've put a link to a Chalene Johnson article about weight early in a program. I'd say keep showing up (another Tonyism), dial in the nutrition and results will come. Also, measure the things not on the scale, how do you feel (more strength/energy), clothes fit dfferent things like that.

Chalene on weight early in a program

I've been with a lot of people here and they all progress at different rates, but if you keep working out and get your nutrition in line, you will make progress and see changes. Good luck.

I agree with the above. It takes time. Focus on your nutrition, getting enough sleep and giving you all to your workouts. Results WILL come! Which verison on BBL are you doing?

Cheers!

Hello Nilhsa,

Yes, I'm in the same boat. I'm day 25. I've been keeping a food journal and it has definitely helped me to make better choices . I have also missed some workout days but I'm moving my body and sweating compared to the no exercise lifestyle I had for over 10 years. I lost 2lbs (which I fluctuate all the time depending on when I weigh myself even before I started workout) and no inches off.

My husband started working out about 4 months ago. He started to see results from around day 60 (subtle) and obvious results at 3 months mark. He now added P90X from around 2 weeks ago.

So I'd agree with the others. I assume the results will come. But I can feel the same frustration and questioning you're going through.

Lots of things can affect your results hun, how is your nutrition? Are you taking in enough calories? Are you eating the right calories?

Remember you are only 20 days in and your body is adjusting to the punishment of working out, you could also be retaining water due your muscles repairing themselves. As far as the scale goes my advice is to stay away from it, instead go by how your clothes fit and your overall strength, energy and endurance gains.

Results will happen just stay on track with your nutrition and if you miss a workout just pick back up where you left off, doubling up will not get you faster or better results.

Hope you're having a great day emoticon

Are you tracking your calories properly? I've helped my mom with her nutrition and she's lost over 20inches and 16lbs since starting BBL, she's on her way to complete her second round. BUT she wasn't losing every week and we realised she wasnt eating enough, when I told her to eat more she started losing more again. If you don't eat enough you will go into starvation mode and your body will hold on to your fat. How much are you currently eating? What is your weight and height? Have you done a workout program before this?

Also doing doubles isnt the best, because you will burn more calories you will need to eat those calories. When you skip a day, just do it the next day and follow the schedule. If you find yourself skipping to many days, maybe we can talk about your schedule and find a better time for you to workout.

I'm here to help you if you want my help, Team Beachbody is a big family and we're all hear to help you succeed.

Have a nice day!

I'm not quite as far along in BBL as you (just getting into week 2) but yeah, I've gained about an inch. FRUST-RA-TING. Several TBB coaches told me it's just water retention and muscles growing under fat, hence adding volume. I was also advised my calories were way too low and that I need to eat more calories (I know, I'm stubborn to believe more calories leads to weight loss, but they are the experts, not me). Let me know how it all goes!
