There are many other recovery drinks on the market, but most of them will tell you to focus on a 4:1 ratio... Meaning 4 part carbohydrates (mostly simple sugars) to 1 part protein. You need the simple sugars and protein in this case to help with your recovery and soreness. A little creatine doesn't hurt either.

Are there certain types of food I could blend with a protein shake to get that? Or am I best sticking to ready made formulas?
