Looking for people to keep me motivated and focused!
I am a divorced mom of 3 girls. I share custody with their dad which means that I only have my girls part time. They are in sports and I am a great supporter of that except when it comes to helping them practice at home. By the time I get home from work, cook dinner, and eat, I don't want to do anything else. I don't have the energy to do it. I get at least 8 hours of sleep a night and I don't eat like I used to.

I have recently purchased (and waiting for them to arrive)Turbofire and the At home boot camp.

I chose these two because it fits in the scale of exercising that I would like to do. I am "technically" obese (5'3" weighing in at 265). I had all three of my girls via c-section and it has made it difficult to lose the weight.

I have a live in boyfriend whom can lose the weight like it's nothing. He started a new job 5 months ago and has lost a significant amount of weight due to only eating what he takes for lunch. I have tried to do the same thing with no success.

I have tried tracking what I eat, exercising regularly, cutting out the soda, caffiene, and only drinking water. None of which seems to help.

I get home and I think about doing exercising but I cannot motivate myself to do it. My kids have said that they will exercise with me but to me that's not enough. I guess I need some real self disciplin and make myself do it more often. A big part of the reason why I don't do the exercising on a regular basis is because I have knee problems. I am scheduled for an appointment in December and I can imagine he will probably tell me that I need surgery to clean up the cartlidge. I know I will have PT afterward and then my plan was to start the programs that I have ordered. Is that a good idea though? Wait until I hear what the doctor says or should I just start my workout when I get them? Any thoughts?

Well, if I need to update this more, I can do it at a later time. I guess what I am looking for is for someone to keep me in good spirits and push me to stay focused and disciplined with this whole thing. I think deep down, I know I can do it, it's just getting there that is the problem.

Hi! You have made the first step and posted asking for help. Things that have helped me and others I work with start and stay on track is to write down our goals where we can see them. Having a workout schedule which you can cross off when finished. Tracking both nutrition and exercise. I use myfitnesspal and a heart rate monitor. Finding a supportive group. I just started a new support thread: Support Thread

It sounds as though you are making good choices. Have you checked with your dr to make sure there is no medical reason that you are not losing weight?

One of my concerns is that Turbofire- love it! is high impact and may not be good for you with bad knees. There is a modifier (a women doing the moves low impact) so I would follow her in the videos. I also recommend looking at the new to class dvds to get yourself used to the moves.

I will look into your thread when I have a moment later on today. Right now I am trying to make a list of items (goals) that I want to be able to do and feel later.

Hi there!!

MY HUSBAND IS THE SAME WAY! haha...it can be so frustrating how they can lose weight with little to no effort. My hubby loses weight when he doesnt work out...I wish that was the case for me!

Im starting a challenge group on December 10. It will involve taking pics of your meals and your workouts and posting them in a PRIVATE facebook page on a daily basis...so that might help give you the motivation you need!! You will be provided with a group of supporters (including myself) who will be there to give you advice, motivation, and answer ANY questions you can think of!
