Equipment for Asylum?
additional equipment 1st time asylum
11/24/12 12:14 PM
Hi Guys!

I'm half way through Insanity and seriously considering doing Asylum after the 60 days. The problem is that I'm struggling to find any information on the equipment I will need for Asylum Vol1. I understand that a agility ladder and rope comes with the DVD's but will I need any additional equipment?

Thanks in advance!

No that's basically all you need, other than maybe some 10lb dumbbells.

To take full advantage of the workouts however you could invest in the pull up bar and/or the $6 resistance bands in the shop.

But that's about it.

I second what GBuch says! If you are seriously committed to and looking to achieve max results then you will definitely want to invest in a Pull-Up Bar, and Some Resistance bands! I'd say though that in importance Bands/Dumbbells > Pull-up Bar if you're forced to choose between the two, because without them you will have to skip through almost the entire strength DVD minus 2 or 3 moves!

Just a question...

I had the Insanity and Asylum DVDs for a while now (around a year and a half LOL) I am also half way down Insanity and considering doing another round so i can move to the Asylum. Thing is I can't find my agility ladder anywhere!!! I really haven't checked in the shop here. But do they sell it? I just need the agility ladder... Not a package with blah blah and blah...

Thanks for the info beforehand emoticon

Agreed I started using 15 and 20 lb dumbbells and bought the round bands from target for less than 9.00 dollars. The jumprope and ladder came with the order. The other thing to have handy is a towel cause your gonna sweat and water.

You can get an agility ladder at Walmart for 20.00 the agility ladder they sell is 11ft -15ft long but you can fold it or use the whole length if you like. I bought it because i am thinking about trying the program using the whole lenght should be interesting.

there is one other thing you need to do asylum. ENOUGH ROOM!!!

how much room? enough room that after you lay your ladder down, you can get into plank with your hands in the ladder all the way around the ladder. this means about 12'x 14' of space. you also need to be able to jump rope without hitting the ceiling or destroying a light fixture.

can you do it with less? yes. but it is a pain. you will be constantly moving the ladder around.
