Seeing results?
11/27/12 5:55 AM
I am in my 4th week. I really like the program but I don't feel like I'm seeing results. What should I have expected this first 4. I don't have a large gut but I do not like that my stomach sticks out. I am not matching the number of reps on every move for the Ab-Ripper but I am completing the workout. I am not going to give up but I'd really like to see more results or know better what/when to expect.

Thank you.

Brandon

Hey Brandon

I assume you're doing p90x??

What do you mean by not seeing results? You're not losing weight, or you don't see any results in the mirror? It's very, very difficult to SEE results in the first four weeks. Oftentimes you can see a bit of a change once you compare your Day 1 and Day 30 pictures. Each time you take your picture (day 30, 60, 90) you'll notice changes and they add up pretty substantially, but between the 30 days are definitely harder to see.

If you haven't lost any weight and don't see any results, I would say it has something to do with your nutrition. How has your dieting been?

Yes, it's P90X. Well I'm not really much overweight to begin with. I probably want to lose about 10 pounds. I did have someone mention that I look like I have lost weight the other day. I guess the biggest change that I have noticed is my arms. My wife said something about that in particular as well. emoticon

Dieting has been ok but not really consistent. I am definitely not over-eating. I'm on the go a lot and time gets the best of me. I am using the portion approach due to the schedule.

Brandon,
50% of the results are the nutrition. Try moving from a Portion based diet to counting the proteins you are really having. If you have a smartphone download Myfitnesspal to assist you in this new approach. Are you in Level 1 or 2?

I am level 2. So in Phase 1 / Level 2 I should be consuming 7 serving of protein daily. Daily totals for everything are 2400 cals? I've been using the P90X app. It's...not all that friendly nor does is truly match up with the nutrition book.

Does a whey protien drink count as a protien or does it count as a "drink" on the P90X app.

I just added the Myfitnesspal app to my iphone. Any coaching is greatly appreciated.

Thank you both.

How did you calculate the calories you should be taking ? If you used the website I will I've you more calories that what you need to loose weight . A protein shake will count as a protein portion or a snack. That's why I don't use the portion plan. It can be confusing at times.

Let me know any questions and Bring it

I used the formula in the Nutrition Guide.

Body Weight = 175 x 10 = 1750 RMR (in Calories)

RMR 1750 X 20% = 350 Daily Activity Burn

RMR 1750 + 350 + 600 = 2700 Energy Amount

That puts me right in the middle of Level 2.

Thank you Alberto

I'd use MyFitnessPal and calculate your total calories. The portion plan can become very confusing and in my opinion, it's easier to just count your calories than it is to figure out the weight of proteins and whatnot.

If people are noticing changes, it sounds like you ARE getting results! emoticon

So if I am understanding the Myfittnespal calculation correctly, since I did the xstretch this morning I earned extra caloric intake?

You are right. It is much better.

My fitness pal works really great to count calories, but does not really take the proteins, cards, fats, etc. ratio which you have to consider if you want to get good results.

Working out hard is one thing, but everything starts in the kitchen.

I personally travel like 50% of the time for work, and I found that what works best, is to prepare meals in advance, get a good lunch bags like the 6 packs and good containers and then...you have NO excuse! emoticon

175 / 5'8" / 42

I guess most of my frustration is with my stomach. So any advice there is appreciated.

Look at these 6 packs: http://www.sndcanada.com/accessories_other.html

They help me a lot controlling my food even when on the road or at work!

Sorry for the delay in writing back. OK coach, what group do you recommend?

I also feel like I'm hitting a wall. I still have not made it all the way through plyometrics. Good lord that one kills me.

Ok so I posted some photos combining Day 1 and Day 30. I feel like I'm not seeing much of a difference. Please give your thoughts. Maybe I'm just expecting too much too soon.
