Question on the stretching
Question on the stretching
11/27/12 12:00 PM
Hi all, I'm in need of help to get the most out of the stretching.
Right after the hip flexor stretch in a couple of the videos, there's a stretch that's similar to a 'triangle pose.' You start in runner's stretch, hands on each side of foot, then you rotate your torso and reach your back hand to the cieling. I can feel that one in my glutes, feels great. But then you rotate the other direction and reach the front hand to the cieling. WHERE is that supposed to stretch? I can't find it!! Right now it's just squishing the bent hip. Am I doing it wrong? Should it feel like a triangle pose, stretching the side of the body? I just don't want to miss a vital stretch and get injured. Advice is appreciated!
Thanks all!
Stacy

Hi,

That was funny, I totally picture that stretch as you described it. So yes, it is supposed to stretch the opposite side of your body. Are you doing the one side different than the other?

How is Insanity going for you otherwise?

Try extending your arm to the ceiling perfectly straight vertically, you should feel the stretch in your shoulder. Also, when you stretch the arm that pushes the outside of your shoulder against your knee, apply a bit of pressure with your shoulder to your knee to stretch out your groin. You should feel it (I know I did). Just remember to never overstretch (if it hurts, you're stretching out too far).
