Okay, so. I'm hoping to just use this as a self-motivation thread, something that I can post to whenever I workout. If anybody else wants to post their day-to-day thoughts on this, go for it! But the main purpose for me starting this thread is that I want some way to hold myself accountable - aside from the journal next to my bed!

A bit of history on me: I'm really, REALLY bad at keeping up with a workout schedule. Whether it's because of work, school, social obligations, me being lazy, or whatever else... The longest I've ever stuck with a workout program was the first six weeks of P90X - and before that three weeks of P90. So for me it's not a serious "I'm dedicated; I'm going to do this EVERY DAY!" For me this is "I'm going to do what I can, and record what I do when I do it."

So, with that in mind, this might actually be the only post I make on this thread! It certainly won't be my only time doing turbofire, but I might end up forgetting that I make this thread, and trail off into something else. If anybody feels like stalking me, you've been warned.

I got my Turbofire in the mail today, along with my 10-minute trainer (yay black friday sales!), so in addition to that and my P90X and P90, I might be posting about different workouts occasionally. I'll be trying to stick mainly with turbofire though, and I'm doing the Prep Schedule - that means Day 1 (today) was Fire 30 Class.

I loved it! Loved it. It was so fun. I mean, I had a hard time catching up with it, but I feel like the next time I get into it it will be so much easier. I'm glad the training segments exist, because otherwise I would have been completely lost. On the jab cross hook uppercuts I kept trying to do it Kenpo X style. Hah!

However, I faced a serious disappointment about 25-30 minutes into my workout (since the training version of the 30 workout is 40-45 minutes long, halfway through!) when my Playstation 2 started glitching. All I could think was: "Brand new workout DVDs, my PS2 has never had bad glitches like this with P90X, I hope I didn't get bad DVDs!" pulled the DVD out, ran up to my bedroom, popped it in - turns out my PS2 is going bad, to both my intense relief and disappointment. So, as ironic as it sounds since I JUST started this program and I have commitment issues, it looks like I have to take a break or invest in a new DVD player. Boo! However, I will figure something out - even if I have to hook an external CD/DVD reader up to my little netbook.

I'm so excited to start this program, and even though I didn't get to go all the way through with the first workout, I am super pumped for what's coming up. I can do this. I can succeed. I will succeed. I'm a big brave dog.

Turbo is an AWEOSME program. I completed a round and I'm using the workouts until I start Les Mills Combat in January. I have a Facebook group going for general motivation and support if you're interested. I'm an on again, off again personality myself so I know the challenges of that.

I'll send you a buddy request. Let me know how I can help!

Funny story! I did my workout yesterday and tried to post, but it kept saying "Message Boards are down"... So here's yesterday's post:

Razzers:
Day 2 of the Prep Schedule down! I brought my PS2 to a friend who fixes broken xbox360s in his spare time; I was indeed right that it just needed to have the lens reader cleaned. It worked like a charm while I was doing Stretch 40 Class today~

However, the class was another story. I'm used to the fast pace of the P90X Stretch/Yoga videos, so the fact that this one went so slow in some parts kind of caught me off guard... I was starting to go through the poses before Chalene did, and I've never done this workout before! Definitely weird.

I do have one very very negative thing to say - but it's about my yoga mat. Whenever I go from plank to downward dog, it stretches... Sometimes as far as a whole foot, depending on how "into" my downward dog I am. It sucks. And when I try to re-place my hands and feet so they're the distance apart they're supposed to be, the mat squeezes back to its original size. By the time I'm almost in a happy place (although due to the frustration it's anything but happy), the group on my TV is moving on to the next pose, and I get to start my fight all over again. Boo! I'm beginning to look into new yoga mats, but after spending $140 on two programs, my budget is really slim... Poopie. Good thing I have no-slip gloves, so I could just do it on my concrete floor :/ Extra good that the yoga portion of Stretch 40 is maybe ten minutes long.

I'll try to keep up with the workouts, and posting on here! In the meanwhile to anybody who's reading, KPP ?

Anyways, today was Day 3 (technically four, but more on that later) and it was Tone 30! That was pretty incredible, not gonna lie. I never thought to twist bands around my feet and lean my whole body back - I've only ever thought about how bands are good for arm workouts! Shows what I know. Not that Tone 30 Class didn't hit my arms... They're a bit shakey/tingly right now. Hah!

Anyways, about that thing where it's technically day four - I'm skipping and saving up my rest days. Occasionally I have days where I just can't work out - it doesn't fit in my schedule. I normally have class at 9:30 in the morning, get out of class around 12-2. SOmetimes (not often though) I'll be scheduled to come in after class gets out, usually until 9:30; thus, the rest days. Coincidentally, I have two such days next week, so I'll be using this week's rest day and next week's rest day for those two (Tuesday and Thursday)! It's a little unorthodox probably, but it's better than fussing over doing a workout when I am way too tired to, and trying to figure out how to make it up: "Do I do a double to make it up? But it's that kind of workout, and then that kind of workout, and I really don't want to..." And then I end up missing it completely. SO, I'm going to be proactive and avoid the whole stupid situation to begin with =)

KPP!

You are pushing play and that's what matters! WAY TO GO! When you get to the month that has the HIIT workouts, just make sure you don't do those on back to back days. emoticon

Thanks Gina! I tried to respond to you earlier after I made my second post, but it was doing that "Message Boards are down" thing again. Poo on it!

Thank you for your support in this, and I'm glad somebody else knows the sensation of "on-off"... Lol!

I remember seeing in the get-started DVD that HIIT isn't something you want to do two days in a row - thank you for the reminder! I'll need to watch out for that... I just went to check, the Prep Schedule only has two HIIT sessions, and they're an entire week apart at the end - so hopefully it won't be an issue! =)

HOLY MOLY. Day 5 down, Fire "EZ" (it lied!) 45, and Stretch 10 in the books. Jeebus, that was anything BUT easy. I feel like every time I looked at my heart rate monitor I was at 180 or 190. Is that normal? I mean, on some of the more intense parts of Kenpo X I would find myself at 180 or so, and I always felt worked... But every time I saw I was at 190 in Turbofire I just kind of felt more energized than when I was at 180 in Kenpo. Does that make sense?

Anyways, My PS2 is being a big stupid dummy, so I ended up having to pause halfway through my workout to plug the external CD-reader into my netbook and do the rest of the workout on my teeny tiny (11") screen. Hah! But I finished. Thus, happiness.

Oh. My HRM says I burned 700 calories. Whew!

My heart rate usually maxes out in the 160's during a HIIT or Fire drill. Just watch to make sure you don't maintain that high for a long period of time. emoticon And they absolutely lie. Fire 45 EZ is not EASY. I love that workout!

Gina, your heart rate only gets up to 160 on the heavier segments?

Did Core 20 today, and rocked its socks off :> I've been feeling a bit sick lately - headaches and slight nausea, so it was nice to do something of a strength workout today; tomorrow's Stretch 40 Class will be welcome!

Oh gosh, my schedule's been a bit crazy; sorry for not posting yesterday!

Went out to lunch with my parents yesterday (pigged out.. Woops!) and then spent ALL afternoon doing homework. Homework homework homework. Then finished off the night with Strech 40 Class and a shower. Didn't get in to bed until 1AM...

Today, I had class at 9:30AM... And then I had work after class.... And I got off at 9:30PM. I just finished my first ever 10 Minute Trainer, the Yoga one. It was pleasant =) Not quite what I was expecting, having gone through Yoga X! But definitely pleasant; I'll be doing that one again soon.

Anyways, as you can see from the time this is posted, it's a bit late... And I have class at 9:30 in the morning again tomorrow! I need to hit the hay!

I AM SO HAPPY. I CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW HAPPY I AM. I DO NOT THINK WORDS CAN EXPRESS PROPERLY HOW PLEASED I AM WITH LIFE AT THE MOMENT.

For the past year (since my mom bought the super nice elliptical we have in the basement), I've been hesitant - even scared to get on the elliptical. The reason is simple: after about five minutes of being on it, my back would start to hurt, without fail. Sometimes earlier than five minutes. Sometimes immediately.

My coach gave our facebook group a challenge (For raffle tickets, of course): on Tuesday, do a double. Okay, a half-double. Do 20 minutes of SOMETHING on top of your regular workout; push yourself. So I said to myself "Okay, I'll just go for a walk around the block when I'm done. That's about twenty minutes emoticon".... But I forgot that when I finish my workout it's dark outside, and more than a little bit cold.

So I had a choice: don't do anything extra, go walk outside in the dark and cold, or get on the elliptical.

I got on the elliptical.

As usual, after about 3 minutes, my back hurt. However, I was going to do this. It was for my own good. I struggled through it, pushing. I told myself "Just do one mile... Just one mile, twenty minutes, you can handle this." At 17:30 minutes in, when I was at 0.97 miles, something truly beautiful happened. On a whim, I started lifting my heel when my foot was in the back part of the cycle.

My back pain vanished immediately.

Normally I keep my feet flat on the peddles the entire time I'm on the elliptical; I never knew that lifting your feet made a difference. SO, rather than stopping at 1 mile like I'd planned, I did the extra 3 minutes and ended up burning an additional 221 calories... On top of the 715 calories I'd just finished burning from Turbofire's Fire 45"EZ"

I feel good. Oh so good.

I'm not scared to get on the elliptical anymore.

Just finished Stretch 40 Class =) Day 9 in the books! 14% done with the TurboFire prep schedule! Okay, it sounds really weak in percentages. Whatever.

Tomorrow's another one of those wonderful school-all-morning and work-all-afternoon days, so I might not be able to get in the Sculpt30 I have scheduled; I'll try to get in a ten minute trainer at least though.

In the meanwhile, there's been a lot of communication going on on my facebook team's page - mostly about Healthy Eating 101 (that's a link to the article we're talking about, by the way). I've discovered a few things about myself, nutritionally: I should be aiming to eat about 150g of protein, 100g of fat, and 125g of carbs every day. Normally I'm spot-on for fat, way over on carbs, and way under on protein, so my goal for this week (in addition to working out every day) is taking steps to improve that, and ultimately begin shedding the pounds.

I might be imagining it, but my pants already feel a bit looser~

Phew. Yesterday was jam-packed! Class starting at 9:30 AM, got out of work at 9:40 PM. Leaving my house at 8:45 AM and not getting home until about 10:30 PM makes for a tired Emma who doesn't want to work out! Lol.

So I did yesterday's workout today; going to count yesterday as one of my "rest" days (which I'm just dispersing throughout the schedule as I need them). Today was Day #11 of the Turbofire "Prep schedule," Sculpt 30 Class. You hear half an hour and think "Wow, that's a lot!"... But after doing P90X, no, it's not. Class ended and I was all like "That's it? We're done? You're joking! I've got another half hour in me!" .. And I didn't even use my E&E. Oh well.

I'll save up that energy and put it into tomorrow's Core20, how about that.

Day #12 of the Turbofire Prep Schedule down! Today was Core 20 and Stretch 10, and I rocked them.

Since today's Saturday, I did my usual weigh-in (I only step on the scale on Saturdays!) and I lost 1.4 lbs this week! I went from 197 lbs down to 195.6. That is a trend that I am totally cool with.

Since I suddenly dropped more than a pound when I started eating healthier & drinking more water, I do believe that is a habit that I should be keeping up ;) No-brainer! Hah!

Then I'll be nice and pumped up for tomorrow's Fire30. Awwwwwyeahhhhhh!

Day #13 down: Fire30 + Stretch10. I didn't quite get to do this all the way through the very first time I had this class; like I said in my first post, my PS2 kind of died after the first fire drill. So here's my reaction for all of fire30...

HOLY MOLY. I BURNED 650 CALORIES DURING THAT THING (according to my HRM). WHAT THE WHAT?

This just means I'm awesome (and out of shape; my heart rate was up around 180-190 a lot). I am so awesome, and I'm going to rock the socks off of this program. Because I'm so awesome. I'm so sharp, I'll pierce the hull of a first-rate fire nation ship, leaving thousands to die at sea. Because I'm so sharp.

Anyways, today's calorie burn isn't that much of a step forward; I went out with the family and splurged on a big Olive Garden meal, so... I hope that this about puts me even.

Ah well.

Woot! Week 2 of the turbofire Prep schedule officially DONE! I feel amazing. Not much time to celebrate my splendor, though - I have to leave for work almost as soon as I'm out of the shower. Boo!

Anyways. Stretch40 Class today, day 14, I'm feeling good. I kind of like the feel of the "rough'n dirty" Turbofire yoga vs the Yoga X which is so... Just so much yoga, oh my gosh.

Day 15 in the books! Fire45 "EZ", stretch 10, and 20 minutes on the elliptical. I burned 1000 calories. What the WHAT?!

Starting to get a sore throat - hopefully I can keep it from fully developing. It made it a little challenging to get a full breath on some of the fire exercises; I paused a few times to catch my breath ... and noticed every time I did that my heart rate was around 180-190! Phew.

Going to go study for my history finals tomorrow, and pump myself up for tomorrow's tone30 =)

Fire30 and Stretch10 done! Today was my first day straight up doing class - you know, without the "new to class" option. It wasn't that bad! Although the fire drills kind of kicked my butt; in the new to class option you have that buffer time when you're moving kind of slowly... In the actual thing, you go from phase to phase without much pause.

It's awesome.

Oh yeah, I did TOne30 and Stretch 10 yesterday, but didn't get around to writing a post about them after I finished... My arms were feeling kind of like jelly for a little bit there ;)

Day 19 technically done... I didn't get to finish my workout. Stretch40 class today, and my dvd player crashed just past halfway; I was too scared of it scratching/ruining my DVD to give it a second chance.

This is so stupid. It shouldn't be this hard to find a working method to play DVDs. My PS2 doesn't read discs properly anymore - it always skips and crashes. My DVD player doesn't read discs properly anymore - same as the PS2, skips and crashes. The external optical drive I would otherwise hook up to my netbook has decided that it hates me, and refuses to actually send the information to my laptop.

THis is stupid. I'm frustrated. I'm very seriously considering just saying "fuck it" and stopping, because I don't have another $50+ to spend on a WORKING dvd player. Fuck.

Day 20 of turbofire's prep schedule done... I woke up this morning and just felt like I really needed to get my sweat on. Core20 and Stretch10 aren't the sweatiest of workouts, but they still count...

In relation to my last post, I had to run out earlier today to buy a DVD player in order to do my workout. Sigh. There's another load of money that I don't really have... Guess I get to skip out on lunch at work for a few days to make up for it. Or just start packing? I'll figure something out - even if it's munching on trail mix all day.

Pardon my language in the last post; maybe I'll go through and edit out all the F-bombs.

It feels like every time I go to post on here, I get this stupid "message boards is down" response. Derp.

If anybody's keeping tabs on me, I thought I'd let you know that I've been doing my workouts on a daily basis, as usual...

12/16: Stretch40
12/17: Fire45EZ + Stretch10
12/18: Tone30 + Stretch10
12/19: Fire30 + Stretch10

And today, 12/20: Core20 + Stretch10

I wonder if it'll let me post today?... Getting kind of tired of this website not loading properly/all the way. I think they need a bigger server! I really don't know a lot of computer stuff... Maybe they need more memory/ram? Beats me.
