vegetarian diet animal protein

Hi,

I stared P90x 4 days ago and I've been trying to stick to the diet. The problem that I am having is eating the required amount of protein, I feel like it is soooooo much! Any tips and/or advice on what I can do to make eating THAT much protein easier? (I need to have 7 servings of protein a day) Also, I'm a vegetarian so that limits what I can have.

-Thanks!

Hi! Congrats on starting P90X! Great program. What do you eat for protein? It will help me make suggestions.

Somethings that I eat are tofu, tempeh, lentils, beans. Do you eat dairy or eggs?

I just started a motivation/support thread-Support & Motivation Thread Come join us!

Cheers!

Hi!
Thanks for the support! Out of the list of suggested items the only thing that I haven't tried yet is tempeh, and yes I do eat both dairy and eggs. I think the part that I am going to have to get used to is eating so much. I feel like that is all that I am doing.

Have a great day!
Melissa

I use protein bars for snacks and to get more in me. Plus shakes with will get you a great jump in the ammount of protein. Other than that you are limited because of being a Vegitatian.

I would buy some whey protein power and make your daily shake with that! it'll pump up your protein intake a lot!
Also i make my own protein bars (pre made in the shops are way to expensive for my tastes)

These 2 things alone really spike up my protein intake a whole lot! whilst not being extremely expensive emoticon

I've been wanting to make my own protein bars! What recipes do you use or would you suggest? (If you don't mind me asking).

well i've been using recipes found on google and youtube!
The one i use the most is:

It's perfect for vegetarians so give it a try and enjoy it!

They taste so good :o and they are very easy to make in my opinion!
I make a whole scale for 1 week and just put it in the fridge and each monring take a slice and wrap it up and take it with me to work emoticon
I can feel all the energy flowing in me each day now since i've been following the nutrition plan!

I hope you enjoy the recipe!

The problem with this is that the P90X program considers lentils and beans as carbs, not protein. Cheese is dairy. Hummus is carbs, not protein.

I too just started P90X and am having an awful time trying to eat as much protein as they want me to and I'm not a vegetarian.

Good luck!
