Calorie Trouble during Phase 1
Calorie Trouble during Phase 1

I'm finding it difficult to get enough calories while trying to maintain the 50/30/20 diet. Does anyone have tips or pointers or a meal plan (mainly chicken) that gets to about 1800 calories? I map my meals out the day before using MFP, but seems like I have a tough time breaking 1300-1400cal unless I just gorge myself.

For Example - today my meal plan is as follows:

Breakfast - Shakeology: Coconut Paradise
Lunch - Side Salad w/ turkey/cheese/fat free dressing
Chicken Breast & Green Beans
Dinner - Chicken Taco Salad
Snacks - (2) Oikos Nonfat Yogurt cups

Breakdown is exactly 50/30/20
Total Calories = 1272

Would appreciate any help...Thanks.

I see that your "snack" area can be improved to include more cals. How do you feel about adding in another item during snack time?

Also, between breakfast and lunch there is a gap. Is it possible to add in some eggs? For ex:

1 egg, 2 egg whites, some sliced turkey breast lunch meat. Scramble it together. Cook or microwave. Great way to add soem cals.

I'd eat a solid breakfast and have the Shakeology for a snack. A bunch of egg whites and veggies scrambled in an omlette, for example. Also, given the choice between eating ENOUGH or hitting your macros exactly, go with eating enough.

Yeah I would eat some more for breakfast and save Shakeology for a snack. If you need more protein try whey protein powder or turkey jerky. More carbs, try brown rice or oatmeal. More fats, try peanut butter or almonds. Good luck!
