How do you fight cravings and Temptations?
So ladies and gents here is my question for you, how to you fight the temptations and and cravings of the foods that can be your demise? Im a carb and sugar "addict". Im having a hard time resisting all the sweets, especially this time of year. What are your techniques that you use? What kinds of foods do you swap out for the "bad" ones? I know that to be completely successful in this program I have not only stick to the workout but also change my eating habits. Any tips, advice, comments are greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Yes, it can be very hard to resist all the sweets during this time of year. I'm not sure what workout program you are doing, but it should have come with a nutritional plan. This is good to follow. The answer to your question can take days to answer, so I'll give you the short answer.

Sugar and carb addictions result in an increase in serotonin levels. Works very similar to drug addictions. This increase is what causes the cravings. Just like any other addiction, you need to clean the system out by substituting clean foods. A great alternative that will solve some of the sweet cravings is Shakeology. It also has digestive enzymes that will clean your system, it's 100% natural whole food drink with no chemicals. It makes a great meal replacement. You should be eating around 1700-200 cals per day, 5-6 times a day....balancing proteins, carbs, veggies.....get rid of sugars, carbs like bread, tortillas, chips..

As far as a menu substitute, I would need to see a food journal to get a better idea.

I know this is not the answer you want to hear, but is the one that will get you the results you are seeking.

Cravings & Temptations......Oh I know what you mean I sure do love my carbs & sugar emoticon

Truly what works for me is a meal planner. Where I get all the food that my body needs & my Shakeology for breakfast.

I have tried doing it myself & just can't balance the foods. The plan works in Carbs & sugars & even a little desert every night.

I know what you're thinking A LITTLE DESERT! But really by that time with having Shakeology for breakfast & your other meals & snacks your satisfied with just having a small desert.

My favorite is.....
Black cherry's warmed with 2TBSP of vanilla bean Ice cream ( fat free ) & drizzled with sugar free chocolate sauce. SO YUMMY!
Yes, this is on the meal planner.

You don't have to give up everything with moderation you can still enjoy food. You need to remember that you putting in some hard work & you want the best results & over time your choices will become better. They say it takes 21 days to create new habits!

I sure hope this helps let me know if you need help with anything else emoticon

Hi,

I was addicted to carbs, sugar, and chocolate. I had to "step" down from the bad foods gradually. I started with replacing all my white carbs for wheat ones: wheat pasta, wheat bread, brown rice, quinoa. I found some low calorie, low fat dark chocolate substitutes for my chocolate/ sugar cravings.

I try to keep my frig/pantry stocked with better choices - apples, bananas, greek yogurt, quinoa or couscous mixed with sauteed vegetables for a quick lunch/snack.

I couldn't just cut the carbs out. I had to keep them in and gradually remove them. Otherwise, I found myself cheating late-night and sabotaging myself.

I make cauliflower mashed potatoes and baked sweet potato french fries (because sometimes you just can't shake the french fry craving!)

I drink a large glass of milk and water before I go out, and I always start with a salad at a party (or veggies if they don't have salad). And I will allow myself to have 1 bite of dessert. For alcohol, I try to stick to diet coke/tonic/soda water mixers or a glass of wine. I stay away from the really sugary and creamy alcoholic beverages.

And most importantly, I don't beat myself up if I cave in to temptation. I just make sure I bring it extra hard when I workout the next day emoticon

good luck,
Rachael

In my personal experience, Shakeology helped quite a bit. There was definitely a decrease in cravings and an increase in energy. I watch my food intake, but when drinking Shakeology, ON A CONSISTENT basis, I can eat the carbs and have some foods high in sugar (I track them no matter what)and not go into the downward spiral of overindulging.
