Minor freakout

Since 2010 I’ve lost 65lbs and have kept it off. I am 5-foot-2, 15.5% BF and 116lbs. I am proud of everything I have accomplished and have worked extremely hard to get here. Working out and eating right has defiantly become my lifestyle and something I enjoy doing. Like most people into fitness I’m strict (and maybe a little obsessed) about what I put into my body and make sure I work out 5-6 days a week. The day after Christmas I booked a 3 night vacation to Las Vegas. I want to let loose and relax for once. This means not worrying about every piece of food I put into my mouth or enjoying a few cocktails. . I know 3 days isn’t going to kill all the hard work and dedication I put in all year but there is that lingering fear. I guess not being on my normal routine bothers me also. Does anyone else have these types or thoughts or issues? It’s pretty aggravating.

I think it is normal to feel this way after working so hard to get to your goal.I would enjoy your trip and DO not get on the scale when you get home. Get back into your routine and wait a few days. emoticon I feel this way at times.

You also can still bring your workout with you or use a hotel gym so you do not feel like you are totally off track. =) Enjoy your vacation!!!

That is true. I plan on packing healthy snacks and hitting the hotel gym in the mornings. This way I dont feel like I went completely off course. I guess the most important thing is getting right back on the wagon once vacation time is over.

Also while you are on your trip choose some activities taht get you moving, i.e. hiking would be great. Don't immediatly choose to hit the pool and work on your tan.

enjoy the tripQ!

I let Steve Edwards handle this one:

It's My Party and I'll Play if I Want To

(if the link gets cut, just google "Steve Edwards its-my-party-and-ill-play-if-i-want-to")

Last paragraph:

The lesson here is that your breaks in your training program should end up not only letting your mind and body recover but validate your healthy lifestyle. As much as you try to be like you were pre-90X (or whatever) you are no longer that person. You feel better when you’re healthy. You like it better when you look good. Life is better when you’re active. And the more you believe it, the more motivation you’ll have during your next training program.

Oh you'll have a blast! There are several buffets that have fresh fruit, toast, and eggs in the morning so you can eat well for breakfast and there are excellent places for dinner and lunch too. I think you can definitely let loose a little and enjoy the trip though emoticon It's just nice to know there are healthy options when you want them.

I went last fall, and we also walked everywhere! I burned off a large (as in 32 oz probably) frozen drink as we walked from the Venetian to New York New York. The gyms in Vegas are also reaaalllly nice which was a nice splurge! emoticon

Congrats on losing 65lbs!! That is great!! Did you just use P90X?

That is the great thing about Vegas is all the walking you do!

When I first decided to lose weight I joined weight watchers. Went to a couple of meetings, took their concepts and just ran with it. I started working out and lost the majority of my weight that way. It wasn't till I hit a wall when I knew I had to change things up so I got P90x. The program took my fitness to a different level.

Wow thats great!! My mom did weight watchers as I was growing up, and I did it through my first two years of college! emoticon It helped me from stressing over gaining or losing weight over the Freshmen 15. I loved how they had a group too--do you have workout or diet buddy now? I don't meet anyone in person, but I'm in a great accountability group on Facebook where we share tips, meal plans, recipes, etc which really helps!!! emoticon Have you ever tried an online group like that?

I kinda did , I just went to Hawaii in October, I counted the calories on my phone. And resigned to the fact of setting a goal to eat no more than 500 cals extra a day. Besides a day of a 3 mile hike, a day snorkelling and ocassional walking on the beach, the only other exercise i did was soaking in a pool with a margarita in my hand. One day I dare not say how many calories i went over , but it involved a luau emoticon All that being said I came back 2 lbs Lighter. So what I am saying is dont go over board but dont go crazy its a vacation to recharge your batteries. It is Vegas, what happens there stays there. Have a good time, but dont go crazy like the movie The Hangover.

I figured this is what Ive worked hard at all year. I eat clean and I kick butt with workouts all week. I need these few days to recharge and refocus so I can go into the New year ready to kill it some more. I won't get too crazy emoticon
