Starting Insanity today
12/3/12 7:01 AM
Hi to all, i'm Tiago.

About 1 or 2 months ago, i began insanity and did 1 month, the recovery week and 2 weeks of the 2nd month. Unfortunately i got sick, so i never got to finish the 2 remaining weeks. I tried to restart the training, by going straight to the 2nd month, but... due to work issues i skipped more workouts than i should.

So... i decided (after gaining the kgs/lbs i had lost emoticon) that it is time for me to do it again, from the start... and this time keep it going.

My diet (when i was training) consisted of healthy food, but with lots of carbs:

I ate them because i commuted by bycicle to work (36 minutes) and home (44 minutes). When i got home, i would have dinner and then after 2 hours or so i would do the hour long (on the second month) workout.

Since it is the winter, im not riding my bike so... i will have to control my diet and my carbs (no more bread, rice, potatoes, etc...); also, no more dairy.

And thats it, this time i hope i will complete it. When i was doing Insanity for the first time, i remember reading people on the boards saying they got sick or quitted and thinking: "what a bunch of excuse-makers" emoticonP. I guess i ate my own words/thoughts emoticon.

Well, thats it. Tonight it begins... again.

MissRoo and Tiago,

You can do it. You fell off the horse, you got back up. The main thing is now you are doing it again. Now lets keep it going and do NOT give up. EVER. Come daily to the TBB threads and lets stay motivated. If you have any questions about Insanity, ask away. I have done 2 rounds of Insanity (currently doing TF). Different results each month. Remember nutrition is just as important as working out. Cheers to Monday and pushing play. One step ahead of those who are still sitting, thinking, and dreaming for a healthier, fit, hotter lifestyle.

Good luck as you embark on the journey again Tiago! The past is in the past, you can control things going forward. You will be happy with yourself when you complete the whole round emoticon

I created an accountability thread. I’ve seen 4 or 5 threads started over the last few days created by people starting Insanity Dec. 3 -5, so I thought it may be a good idea to try to merge everyone into one thread during the next 60 days – the more motivation the better. I know I need it. I will post this on the other threads too.

If you think this is a good idea here’s the thread:

“Insanity Starting Dec. 3-10 – Accountability Group”

DAY 1

Had the fitness test yesterday. It went pretty well, apart from the jumping where i struggled the most. I didnt count the numbers (i didnt first time neither). Even though i am overweight, the fact that i did almost 2 months of insanity and bike riding, has given me a lot of cardio resistance.

It was refreshing to get back at it again, and feeling the abs "pain", knowing they were working during those few exercises.

Again, i know this is dumb but i prefer not to count the number of repetitions i do an exercise. I know i will score more, but i just want to do it for the exercise sake, not trying to prove anything else by it.

Later tonight, will be my day 2, looking forward to it.

Also, my diet as of yesterday consists:

Breakfast:
1 yogurt with cereals

Morning:
1 Banana or apple
Some Walnuts
1 or 2 biscuits gluten and sugar free

Lunch:
2 small grilled turkey breasts with green beans and mushrooms

Afternoon:
Some walnuts and biscuits gluten and sugar free
1 Apple or banana

Dinner:
White meat (chicken, turkey etc... nothing fried) with salad

Middle of the night:
Cottage cheese with slices of ham

I know i may be a little low on calories, but im trying to control the portions etc...

Tell me what you think.

Tiago

DAY 2

Ok, just finished plyometric cardio circuit. Again, even though i achieved a good cardio resistence from almost 2 months of insanity, the fact that i was stopped for 2 months or so had its toll.

I was used to go through the 3 routines for the warm-up easily. Now i began to get tired after the end of the 2nd run. emoticon

Still, i think i did good. Again, the fact that i commute by bike to work gives me a slight advantage on strong legs. But its still hard. I know it will get better in 2 weeks time.

I think i will write my workouts in this thread, seeing as i started it emoticon (if i can remember doing it everytime).

Take care

Awesome Tiago!

Something to keep in mind--make sure you are fueling your body with enough food. Your commute to and from work and doing Insanity uses a lot of energy. Your nutrition looks great. Portion control is good, but again, make sure you are fueling your body with enough nutrients and calories. Keep it up on your very own thread. I'll come by when I can to keep you going too!

As for reps, while doing the workouts don't count reps, just go hardcore and push. Counting reps is good for the Fit Test, not necessary for the workouts. I tried. I lost count because I was either gasping for breath, taking breaks, or cursing at the craziness that I never could remember the number I was on. Plus, when the next time rolls around. We won't remember how much we did. Right. Excited for tomorrow!

DAY 3

Ok, cardio power and resistance. It was tough. I felt it was harder because still had sore legs and back from yesterday. Still managed to keep up but... some of the moving pushups had to be changed for regular pushups. I struggled with the jumps and later on the globe jumps because i was really fatigued. Sweated a lot more than yesterday thats for sure. This is my least favorite exercise day of all of them. I dont know why, but 2 or 3 months back it was also the one i struggled the most.

Anyway, its in the bag.

My diet keeps the same, except at lunch i ate 2 chicken pies (i dont know how you call them, they are small. Like eggrolls but of chicken) with green beans and mushrooms. And my dinner was turkey meat with lettuce.

Hi Taigo,

This is Ken. I finished 2 rounds of Insanity, and I started P90X / Insanity hybrid in October. However, It was very hard to keep motivation without workout buddies. I failed to follow the program in Nov., and gained 8 lbs in Nov. I decide to restart Insanity again and maybe do P90X/Insanity hybrid later on. Let's try to check in everyday and share experiences.

Let's go~~~~~~

Hey guys! Lesha here. I started Insanity for the first time on Dec 5. The fit test was more like an UNFIT test! Haha. I haven't worked out in about 1 year. I have done 3 workouts of Insanity if you include the fit test. My eating is right on track, as I know this is 80% of my success. I have about 40 pounds to lose, but my concern is this...During the workouts I have done, there are several exercises that I just simply cant do. I try to modify the best I can and stay moving, but is this really for the fat and out of shape? I dont want to give up, but I wonder if I might be better off with a workout I can actually do adequately versus one I am constantly modifying. has anyone else struggled this way?

Woot! You are doing an amazing job! This program is rough but is SO effective! This is my 5th go of it, and I just LOVE it! You can totally do this!! My first round, I had a couple of people in the thread have to back out near the end because of illness, as well. They were really frustrated by it, as I'm sure you were. My third round, I ended up hurting my knee on rest day before my last week (I fell chasing my son! Lol!) and had to end it for a few weeks. I was not thrilled! Your dedication to start it again is fantastic! I always feel like making the commitment is the biggest step, it's also sometimes the hardest one to make!

Do you have a coach? If not, I would love to work with you!

Hi Lesha,

Don't worry about it!!! Do your best for forget the rest. Let the video play, and do as much as you can, and feel free to do any modifications. The purpose is to get fit not to get hurt. I am 5'8". I was 211 lbs, when I first did Insanity. I could only do the warmup and stretch of Insanity for the first two weeks. After two rounds of Insanity, my weight down to 173 lbs. After failed the hybrid and gained 5 lbs in Thanksgiving, I decided to do the third round.

Pure Cardio today!!
I still cannot finish pure cardio!! I felt like banana after pure cardio. Could not do any movements in the last 8 minutes because final stretch.

Lesha,

Fit test, oh yeah, I remember that. I dreaded fit test more than any Insanity workout! I did 2 rounds of Insanity and never grew to like globe jumps and power jumps at all. After 2 rounds I got amazing results in all areas of health and fitness. But after 2 rounds, I needed to change up my workouts.

Anyway, just keep on modifying the workouts. There are people who may be heavier than you and doing it. You just do your best and forget the rest. If you stop cause you're outta breath. Take it. Don't pout. No matter how you do the workouts, you are closer to your goal than the person who is still sitting on the couch watching TV and eating potato chips.
