weight gain insanity weight loss
12/3/12 8:25 PM
Guys, really, this won't interest you...

So ladies, I have to tell you my experience so that you decide to stay IN THE GAME and not give up. We know how it is with guys - they get a new program, change their eating habits a bit, and drop ten pounds. Could there be any other proof that God is probably a man???? Just kidding, but here's how it goes for many of us...

The first two - three weeks on Insanity, my weight actually went up. I was soooooooo annoyed and frustrated. But your body freaks out a bit at the shaking up it is getting and holds on to some acids... This WILL pass... around the third or fourth week.

You will see shrinking in your thighs, hips and arms within a few weeks. In the second month of Insanity, you will begin to lose weight. You will feel definite changes in your body when you get dressed. Clothes will loosen and fit better!

It is IMPERATIVE that you not gauge your progress by weight alone! Take the full set of pictures when you begin (front, side, back, other side). File them away on your computer. Trust me, at 60 days, when you make a collage from the before and after pictures, you will see so many areas of improvement!

Do you fit tests!!!!! You will be stronger with every attempt! You will not believe the difference in your strength and ability!!

Get out the tape measure!!!! If inches melt off your body even though the scale shows only a slight dip, you will have a real measure of your work! Muscle is SO MUCH more compact than fat.

I'd love to have new friends as I go into my second round of Insanity! I'd love to hear your results!!!!!

Nice! I started round 2 last Monday. I feel awesome so far. Good luck! I'm going to do a hybrid of Les Mills Pump and Insanity next. Really excited about that.

Oooh - tell me how you plan out the hybrid. I have not done that and am curious, but I would need to really set down a plan or else I will stray ;)
What were your results from the first round???

Well, there are a couple options out there for the hybrid of Les Mills Pump and Insanity, so I will either use one of those or come up with my own version. Either way, I'm like you...I NEED a schedule or I will definitely stray.

My first round results we just OK as far as weight loss, but awesome for inches lost. I lost 6.6 lbs and 20.5 inches. I'm hoping to double the weight loss this time around, but we shall see.

How was your fit test? I did Cardio Recovery this morning.

Wow!!! You made me feel so much better- I didn't lose a lot of weight, but I did shape up all over!!
I did Plyo today - I feel like I have lost a little bit of strength during my few weeks off... was glad to be back. Fit test went well - again, lost a few reps on a few of the exercises. For some reason I felt the workout was LONG today!!!! I love the days when it's over fast emoticon But I got a good workout and now I just need to do 50 squats before bed since I am doing a squat challenge (what was I thinking?????). I'd better have an onion butt after this (you know, a butt so nice it makes you cry???). Ha ha ha
Like you, I think I will lose more this time. I am stronger and get more out of each workout. And my eating is a lot better.

I think women tend to retain more water than men as we get back into shape. Since we're in much better shape now, we should be past that water retention phase.

The first week was tough for me as well. I lost a bit of strength myself, but I think I've gained it back, and I just wrapping up week two. The workouts will seem short again in the second week.

You're INSANE for doing a squat challenge during Insanity. I try to stay away from those challenges, although I need to start doing more pushups to increase my upper body strength. Well, you may be crying either way with all of those squats, lol.

I'm eating better as well. I'm trying to reduce my carb intake (going with the 40C-30F-30P targets). We will see how that works. It's tough for me to get the protein because I don't eat red meat or pork. I hope I don't get tired of chicken. emoticon

Ok, for my accountability...I did Cardio Power & Resistence this morning. I'm targeting about 1800 calories per day, which is reduced from my first round. I don't think I burn as many calories as the average person to get me through the day. It is much easier for me to get the 1800 calories than it was for me to get to 2200 calories in the first round. I will see if I need to increase my calorie intake after week 2. If I lose too much weight this week, I will adjust it, but I don't think I will decrease it because then I would be hungry, lol.

I did my Plyo yesterday and it was hard!!! For some reason it went slower than normal...

I am off to the gym in a short bit to do some arm weights and a bit of cardio and then I am going to do my my Insanity (today is Cardio I think). I love weekends and double workouts!

I need to focus extra on nutrition... do you log your food somewhere? I am using myfitnesspal, but have not been logging daily as I should. Back to it today - had a shake with sunbutter and berries for fuel emoticon Should be good until late afternoon!

I do eat meat and all, but lately we haven't had much time to plan meals - so I have grabbed rotisserie chicken for lunch and have been trying to keep a higher-protein diet too.

OK - off to work out - will check in after emoticon

I use myfitnesspal as well. I log everyday. The only time I missed was during my cruise between rounds of insanity, and I felt so guilty, lol. I really struggle with the protein, but I'm getting better. One of my snacks is a protein bar, and whenever I go out to lunch I get grilled chicken breast, which is packed full of protein. I'm still not consistently at target, but I'm doing much better. I lost 3.2 lbs this week, which is crazy because I only lost 6.6 lbs my entire first round of insanity. I am going to increase my calorie intake about a hundred calories a day, because I want to make sure I tone as I lose the weight. So far, after two weeks, I am down 4.6 lbs, which is very exciting. Hope your workout went well!

Wow! What an awesome weight loss! I think once our bodies get in motion, it becomes a bit easier to lose!!
The protein is hard for me too. I drink the shakes, eat chicken (I just bought a Pampered Chef microwave cooker that can cook a whole chicken rotisserie-style in 30 minutes!), and eat fat free cottage cheese. I was eating protein bars... I should probably add some in again to help get my numbers up for protein. Last week were were really good and grilled chicken and vegetables and added them to salad for the whole week. This week I got a bit behind (who said we should have kids lol). Today was a FULL day of soccer. Got up and did my Recovery workout though. Yesterday I had Cardio Resistance and also went to the gym and did some Stairmaster and dips.
OK - promise to myself to get back to tracking this week!!! I think it's really important to see the numbers...
I am elizgomez on myfitnesspal if you want to add me!
Have a great day!!!

I am impressed. I still haven't gotten to the point where I can add so much on to Insanity. I tried to run during the first round, but that didn't help my knees. This round, no running. I want to start running again, but month 2 took everything I had the last round, so we will see. Looking forward to seeing you track on mfp. :-)

I added you today to MFP. I am trying to also focus on making sure I do every bit of Insanity... I did kind of "cheat" today - went to the gym with the kids and did elliptical and weights and played some racquetball. Now squats and then off to bed. Have to slide my Pure Cardio until tomorrow.

By the way... have others of yu lost a large amount of your... chest????? I think that is sadly where I have lost the most! Not entirely unhappy - they do get in the way when running and such...

I got my running distance up to about 6 miles before starting p90x. I don't feel like I'm doing enough cardio with this program to really drop weight but I do feel like I'm toning. Do any of you do extra cardio? I saw someone posted about a squat challenge and another mentioned going to the gym for arms. Does anyone mix in distance running? I would like to, but don't know where to schedule it so I don't exhaust myself.

I don't do any additional cardio because I am doing Insanity. Although, I have been tempted to do evening workouts since I do Insanity before work in the morning. From what I understand about P90X, it doesn't have as much impact as Insanity, so adding distance running should not be a problem. If you can bring yourself to do P90X in the morning, and eat plenty throughout the day, you should be able to get in a few distance runs in the evening. You will have to remember that when you add those runs, you'll need to eat more food so you don't burn out. I would love to run, but I don't want to risk the additional impact to my joints since Insanity is already pretty crazy.

Good luck Southoftall! BTW, I love that screen name. emoticon

Sarah,
I also try to fit in a little extra cardio, but it's hard. Sometimes, if I get a good dig... I am worn out after the DVD emoticon Christina's idea of getting in a bit extra at night is good. Maybe even if you can fit in a good walk to just get a bit extra. I think you are right - that running shapes our bodies more than anything (although I have gotten great results all around from Insanity). Christina has been melting away lately with Insanity emoticon

I think the hardest thing for me to accept is that even when the scale doesn't budge, my body changes. Somehow I feel that if I don't see the numbers drop, I am not progressing! I wish I could get over that belief! I can see the proof in photos and my clothes.
