NUTRITION HELP
NUTRITION HELP

hi there....

i am on day 10 on insanity. not overweight but would like to lose 10 pounds. following the plan but i feel the carbs are too much compared to other diets what i have read. does anyone have any suggestions? i do the workouts at 6am first thing without anything to eat and have my breakfast right after.

to be shredded do we have to back of the carbs? this is what my plan looks like:

breakfast: proatmeal - oatmeal, berries, protein powder and chopped walnuts
snack - greek yogurt and an apple
lunch - 3oz tuna or fish, celery, lettuce, cucmber, i 1stp low fat ranch in half a brown pita
snack - protein shake or sometimes nothing
dinner - 4oz salmon or fish, sweet potato, 5 brocolli spears and 5 brussel sprouts. all grilled and steamed.

shall i cut out the bread and oatmeal and opt for pure protein like egg whits for instance?

any advice would be appreciated. im female, 5'3, 129 pounds and i dont want to get bulky

I'd really urge you to give it more than 10 days. The carbs in the Insanity plan aren't excessive, unless you're comparing it to one of the extreme high protein diets. For getting "shredded" the real detail is that you need to eat at a small but significant calorie deficit and just remain very disciplined. Your diet, BTW, looks very healthy. I like the variety of fresh, simple foods and you've got all the bases pretty much covered. How many calories is that day that you posted?

I agree with Andrew. 10 days is not enough time to give Insanity a chance. I had my best results in month 2. One of the biggest problems I find it that people do not eat enough and this stalls their weightloss. Tracking calories as well as exercise (via a heart rate monitor) is a good way to see input and outputs. Complex carbs are really important especially once you get to month 2!

Bring it!

Cheers,
Christina

i have 1200 calories per day. i do add raw walnuts and almonds to make up for calories if i cant have them all. also, i will have an extra scoop of protein powder in my oatmeal to count the calories.

i do see a difference slightly in shape and energy but i just wanted to know if the carbs like half a pitta and the oatmeal will make a difference? after 1pm i dont have carbs but rather fill up on veg.

do you recommend swapping the bread or half a bagel for ryvita crackers or melba toast?

anyone recommend egg whites rather than oatmeal for breakfast?

thanks

what is a small calorie deficit?

currently im consuming up to 1100 calories or sometimes less. my concern is the oatmeal and the half a pitta at lunch. shall i swap for ryvita or melba toast or cut all of them out altogether?

yes it may be less but compared to the atkins diet which i was on previously it seems to be so much! i guess its designed for this programme and since i chose to be on it i have to forget all about atkins.

what would you suggest to have for breakfast? egg whites with a fruit instead of oatmeal?

i really am putting 100% into this plan and diet and taking it very seriously. i just want to understand the nutrition to go with the workout to get the best results. i have an event in january and will complete my 60 days then and want to look defined.

thanks ya'll for your help!
