Hi everyone,

I’ve seen 4 or 5 threads started over the last few days created by people starting Insanity the week of Dec. 3rd, so I thought it may be a good idea to try to merge everyone into one thread during the next 60 days – the more motivation the better.

This is my first attempt at Insanity and I’m confident I will complete it no matter what. I’m out of shape and need to lose 50 lbs! I will be taking my fit test today. I did P90X three years ago and the message boards really helped me stay on track and complete the program. I will try to post daily after my workouts for accountability.

Good Luck!

Mike

Hey! I am probably going to start tomorrow, although if I can rearrange my schedule for today then I'll start today.
I started Insanity about a month ago but Thanksgiving really messed me up. There were people staying at my house and I felt like I didn't have time or space to work out. So now that everyone is gone it's time to get back on track. I want to start over only because I was almost done with the first round but don't feel that I am really ready to continue at this point.
I have a 2.5 month old baby and gained a ton of weight during the pregnancy so I have about 70 pounds to lose. I am one of those excuse makers so the more people I have to check in with the more likely I am to complete the work outs.
Good luck!!

Hi Mike-

Glad you started this thread. I should be getting my Insanity any day, no longer than Thursday! I can't wait to get started. I'm motivated NOW and want to get started! I've never done a workout "program" per say but I have 2 Pilates DVD's and those do pretty well. I just tend to not stick with it because if I dont notice results in the first week or two I always fall back on, why try so hard. Doing this work out for myself, only need to lose about 10-15lbs. I don't feel I eat terribly. No pop, coffee. I rarely eat fried fast foods, maybe Jimmy Johns turkey sandwich and I've been a sucker for Chic-fil-a lately. But I can stick to just the kids meal size chicken nuggets and waffle fries and an Iced Tea. I watch portion sizes. So I feel like in my case working out is about the main thing I can change. I need to drink more water..well, more in general. I can go an entire day with drinking less than 32oz.. yeah, its weird.

Good luck starting Insanity today! I'll look forward to see how you do!

Amie

Hey Jen-

Congrats on the new baby! My little guy will be 6 months old on Thursday. I gained 35lbs during my pregnancy-he is #4 for me! I have already lost 25 but I want to lose the rest of it plus another 5 or so so I have 10-15lbs to shed. I am like you, I tend to not stick with it and make excuses. But hey, life with 4 kids IS hectic. And with Christmas coming I know it gets busy. I am really ready for a change though, I want my old body back. I don't like looking at the bulge in the mirror, especially when you see it in your face and arms. ugh. We can do this together. I should be getting my dvd's in the mail hopefully today or tomorrow but no later than Thursday. Have to see pics of the baby sometime!
Is this your first?

Hey Amie!
Yes - this is my first. My husband is already talking about #2 but I have to lose the weight first or I feel it will be a never ending cycle.
Hopefully you guys can kick my butt if I don't do what I am supposed to. emoticon

Quick question - how do I subscribe to this thread so I can get the emails?

Alrightly, just done my first fit test along with my wife. It kicked my ass and my wifes. I expected to do more reps than I did, but by the fourth exercise my legs were gone. I pushed through and do the best I could do on the remaining exercises. Both the wife and I were so gone the even the cooldown was tought to do.

Interested to see how the next fit test goes, that is if i survive getting into the shower today with my ever shaking legs

Hey Amie and Jen –

I’m glad you guys are just as motivated as me! Believe it or not I can relate to you guys. When my wife was pregnant with our 2 year-old daughter I gained more weight than her! Well, she’s pregnant now and the second one is on the way but I learned my lesson and I’m not going to let that happen again. I just turned 30 and my main motivation is to be healthy and live longer for my children. I need to lose 50lbs and I’m hoping over the next 60 days I can lose 30.

Jen – at the top right of this page, just right of the main thread title there is a subscribe icon.

Audrieu – Thanks for giving feedback. Looks like the fit test will be fun for me tonight! I will let you know how it goes for me.

Hi everyone, newbie here! My name's Catherine and I've just started Insanity. I was part of another accountability group for Insanity but there's too many people and so I was feeling a bit disconnected from them because I couldn't keep track of who was who.

I've made a few attempts at Insanity but got stalled by work, holidays and various illnesses. I was at week 2 last time but it had taken me about 3.5 weeks to get there! After a gap of a week, I decided it was best to just restart and do it properly and today was Day 2 Plyometric Cardio Circuit. It wasn't the best attempt but I'm sure I'll get better. I hated P90X Plyo when I first started, mainly because I could only do about 10 minutes of it, and then Week 2 I finished it all; I'm hoping the same will happen with Insanity!

I have about 15-20lbs to lose. I'm at 135lb now and want to be about 120lb but appearance is more important to me than weight since I know the scales don't really mean much with the whole fat/muscle density issue. Ultimately this is part of a lifestyle change for me because I was a teenage athlete and want to get healthier, fitter and stronger again after pretty much neglecting that for the last decade. I'm also trying to eat cleaner, which is really hard to do at the moment because I'm on holiday at my parents and eating what they eat, but I'll be back in Canada for the start of Phase 2.

So hello everyone! I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Cardio Power and Resistance workout, which is one of my favourites.

Thanks for joining! I hated P90X plyo at first too. I really think the plyo workouts helped me lose all my weight years ago so I'm really excited about Insanity. I've heard the diet is 80% of success so that will be a main focus of mine. I will pretty much stick to water, whole grains, fruits and veggies, and chicken. 60 days will go by quick!

I saw this thread and thought I might give it a try. I just started insanity yesterday with my wife. So we have now completed two days. We are both very sore, but very motivated. We do our workouts first thing in the morning at 5 a.m. so that is the hardest part. I want to lose about 30 lbs and my wife wants to lose about 20. I used to be a runner, but my knees are starting to go on me and because of that I have gotten out of shape. After I drop my 30 lbs I will do one more big run and that is the NYC Marathon. After that race I will be done with long distance running. I was hoping that Insanity will help me get back down to my original running weight. STAY MOTIVATED!!!

I think food is going to one of hardest expects for me during this week. We are right in the middle of our shopping cycle, so thrusday i can meal plan for the next two weeks and then the shopping gets done Friday.

I made changes today to the way I eat. I had breakfast this morning for the first time in a while. 1 cup of cornflakes and 1cup of 2% milk. Just ate lunch and for once it wasn't fried food. I have a chicken breast, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato sandwich on wheat bread. No prefect but better than before. I got 2 oranges with me for a mid afternoon snack.

My legs still feel they are like jelly from this morning.

The results and recovery formula arrive just now. Will be interesting to see that goes.

Hi All!

My name is Stacy. I just started Insanity last night with my husband. Glad to hear that we weren't the only ones that felt like we were gonna pass out after the fit test!! Today is day one for us and we will be doing our workout tonight.

For those of you that do early morning workouts, I'm interested to know if you feel like you are going to die for the whole rest of the day, or if the feeling passes and you function just fine. I'd love to change my routine and start working out before work (I like the idea of getting it out of the way first thing) but I'm nervous I'll be too exhausted to function!

Stacy

For me currently the major effect is the jelly legs (thought I am only on the fit test day). But I have much more energy than normal (which is normal for me if I work out in the mornings). Well to put in scale I normally drink about 4 litres of Pepsi max in my work day, and currently I have none (i am also cutting it out of my diet) but I am not tired and sleepy like I would normally be without caffine

Fit test done! I was able to get through 40 seconds of each 60 second interval before I had to rest. My breathing was ok but my legs would just give out on me after awhile. It was a great workout! I am using a heart rate monitor to kind of help me gage when I should rest or push it harder. It calculated I burned 430 calories - excellent for 25 minutes of cardio!

When I did P90X three years ago I didn't take before and after pics and regretted it. So, I took my before pics today -- all four angles and all I can say is WOW. I'm so out of shape it's horrible. I'm extremely happy I took the photos because my mentality has completed shifted from "I should do this" to "I have no choice, I must do this".

What is everyone else doing for recovery nutrition? I didn't buy the recovery drink but have heard good things. I've read the best/cheapest recovery solution is eating a carb/protein snack after working out and the recovery drink is supposed to be used when that's not possible. Since I work out before dinner I may just stick to that and buy one tub of the recovery drink for situations when that's not an option.

Good luck everyone!

Ok! Count me in for accountability!
My name is Katie and I started with the fit test yesterday! THAT kicked my butt! I was winded, sweaty and felt good. Wearing my heart rate monitor I was up in the 180's. Maybe the pressure of having a timer and counting pushed me harder, because today's workout, I wasn't nearly that. Don't get me wrong, today's was tiring too, just not as extreme.
I wonder what tomorrow has in store!

Thanks Mike for starting this group! I don't see how to subscribe to a message thread though...

Peace Out! emoticon
