Can't seem to shed the pounds
Showing 11 results.
I have been working out for 8 months now. I have done some P90X, insanity, turbo fire, 10 minute trainer but I just don't seem to see results. I have been to a dietician, I have had blood work done, I have attended weight watchers and now I am counting calories. I joined a challenge in November and have been working out twice a day. The morning I do a minimum of a 20 minute workout and the evening I do another minimum of 30 minutes. Usually do the longer fire workouts in the evening before supper. Everyone in the group is losing weight and inches. I am lucky if I lost 4 lbs and 4 inches. Any suggestions as to what else I could do. I have also incorporated P90X strenght training a couple of evenings a week (legs & back, or arms & shoulders)

No advice. I must be your twin. I can only think that some gyn issues I have may be the issue, but I don't know. Hugs, because I completely understand how much it sucks.

It sounds like you've done a lot to look into this. Are you sure you are taking in enough calories. I would think that since you've been to a doctor you've covered how many calories you are eating to make sure you're body isnt "storing"

Have you thought about a cleanse - like Ultimate reset?

I wish I could offer more than support. Let's hear what others in this situation may have done.

I agree with Donna, are you sure you are eating enough calories. While doing Les Mills Pump I was shocked to learn how many calories a day they wanted you to be eating. Crazy amount! Another thing is to look at the foods you are eating. Do you eat a lot of prepacked foods, like weight watcher frozen lunches or 100 calorie snack packs. For me I stay away from white flour or even wheat, so no bread, pasta, etc. And of course sugar. Do you keep a food journal? A great online place to do this is MyFitnessPal.com.

The Ultimate Reset, as Donna mentioned, would also be a great thing for your body to do. I know a lot of people who had great success with it.

Good luck!

Hi Sonya!

Have you looked into maybe some of the additives in things you are eating/drinking? I know that a few years ago I discovered that I was "toxic" to aspartame. No doctor could figure out why my hands and feet were swelling, I had lots of headaches, or why I was tired all the time. I googled some of my symptoms and came up with this aspartame toxicity. I figured couldn't hurt to get off of the Diet Pepsi and have had no issues since. If I do drink just the slightest amount now, I have an almost instant headache and swollen fingers.

I'm not saying you have the same problems because everyone is different, but it might be worth a look if its in your diet. Read your labels, try to stay away from it for a month. Its in a surprising amount of diet and regular food.. even regular Bubbalicious type GUM! One of the side effects of this sweetener was weight gain.. amongst an awfully scary amount of other things. It takes about a month to detox it out of your system. Also there is a lot of sodium in some of the frozen or prepared meals, even Weight Watchers. It could be any additive or gluten as was mentioned above. Those also might also be worth a look. I agree with the Ultimate Reset the others have suggested. Might be just what you need.

Maybe try a hybrid workout as well??

I agree that your calorie intake may be stalling your weightloss. What types of workouts are you doing? Have you ever used a site like My Fitness Pal, to track calories burned and the totals you are eating for the day? That might be something to consider.

I'd love to talk to you more and see if I can help you figure this out.

great to see all the responses. I was a diet coke drinker, I'd drink one per day. I now have cut diet coke out. I will have one on Friday or the weekend. I drink about 12 cups of water per day along with about 6 cups of green tea.
I love to eat soup in the winter as I am always cold. I make my soup from scratch, follow some recipes from weight watchers or skinnytaste.com. I'm always looking for recipes that are low in fat/calories, etc and that have all the nutritional info attached to ensure I am eating properly. I love my veggies, so definately eat those daily. Also I try to follow the advice the dietician gave me. When I tried upping my calorie intake I was gaining weight, even working out! I try to stay between 1200 and 1400 calories per day. I can't imagine what I would weigh if I wasn't working out!!!

Hi Gina
I have been doing Turbo Fire for about 5 weeks now. I did 7 weeks of insanity before that. I have done P90X and some 10 minute trainer. I have been doing a minimum of a 20 minute workout in the morning before work and then at least 30 minutes before supper. Usually do whatever was scheduled that day. I have for the past couple of weeks been doing P90X legs & back, arms & shoulders a couple of the week to add strength training to my workout routine.
I joined a challenge group and got the shakeology to see if this would help. Doesn't really seem to make a difference emoticon I definately feel better working out, and I won't quit just would like to see better results

Hi
What is the ultimate reset? I don't eat the prepacked snacks, I watch the sugar, salt, fats, etc in everything I eat. I do eat a cranberry/apple bran muffin daily to try to help keep me regular. I found this recipe and it's 160 calories per muffin but well worth it! If I eat rice or pasta is whole wheat. When I eat bread it's also whole wheat as I look for the fibre content also when choosing foods and they are better for you.
I believe I have looked at MyFitnessPal.com but will check into it again! emoticon thanks for all your help
Hopefully something will click in soon emoticon

Myfitnesspal ROCKS! But Im in the same boat. I recently had my second son (9 months ago) and I stayed healthy during the pregnancy so I lost the weight fairly quickly... then got stuck. I worked hard ALL summer but couldn't get the scale to budge and I hit a plateau (same one I hit before I got pregnant). Then I did a Candida cleanse (i highly recommend looking into it) and I lost 7 lbs in 6 weeks and for the first time in a LONG time, I was below the plateau. But now Im working hard with turbo fire and gained a pound back in my first couple weeks. So lame. Im vegan and healthy and working hard... only thought is that Im not consuming enough

Did you measure yourself when you started? The scale is a terrible indicator of success. If you are doing Turbo workouts and P90x thrown in, you are going to need to eat. Is the 1200-1400 calories what you eat total when you are exercising? For example, if you have your calorie goal set at 1200 and you burn 400 calories, you are actually netting 800. That isn't enough. How long have you been drinking Shakeology? I know that when I drink it every day, it helps with energy, cravings...
