Very Sore
Very Sore

Ok guys I finally decided to get committed and start the Insanity program sitting in my life dad's room. I started Monday and even though i didn't do as I expected, (I'm in no shape what so ever, 5'10" around 255lbs,) I think I did pretty good. I was a bit sore afterwards but ir felt good. I did my second workout yesterday and boy was that a killer. I struggled to keep up about half the time if not more. I was really sore after but a hot shower and icing my calves calmed them for the night.

I woke up and stood up and nearly fell over. Is this normal? Are my calves suppose to feel like jello ready to burst on the 3rd day. I know i'm not I'm shape but wow, it got to the point where walking was becoming a struggle lol.
So I was just wondering if this is normal and I should continue with my workout today, or rest tonight and ice again and pick up tomorrow. I don't feel like quiting, i've read so many success stories and watched YouTube videos to not lose motivation so quick, but this is literally insane. I've never felt my legs like this.

I started the nutrition plan last Monday the 25th just to make sure my body will adjust to all the healthy food and lower calories. I feel great, more energized and not as tired during the day. Just today my calves are ready to burst.

Any advice and tips will be great. Thanx in advance.

Hi Gibi310

I felt the same way when I first started Insanity. Keep on pushing and keep working out. You'll find that you become less sore during the warm-up and you will be able get the workout in. Soreness is completely normal. By the second week your body will adjust and you will be less sore and able to push even harder. Keep it up!

CONGRATS ON STARTING

Oh yes that is normal. Insanity can sure kick your butt. It sure sounds like you're giving it everything you got. But you will have some amazing results, Just keep that same fire going. I know you will want to quit. I know I sure tried to talk myself out of it a few times. Especially in the beginning. But I stuck with it & even did it for a second time. I enjoyed it much more because I had lost enough weight to move around & do the jumps so much higher....Really every thing was better

AS long as you can walk, move around & your sure its just soreness then give it all you got again....Working out through your soreness will shorten the length of it. Maybe take it a little slower tonight But still press play you will thank your self for it later. You can check out my results I have a picture on my thread. Its great to join an accountability group like mine to stay motivated.

Glad I pushed through, like Andrew said, the warm ups made everything much better and I feel less sore than I did last night and i was able to push a bit harder.

Bear, the link says it doesn't exist. I'm kinda new here so I'm not sure how to look for your thread.

When I took my first fit test, I felt pretty good...then the next day I did the first DVD and literally couldn't walk upright for FOUR days. I had to take the entire week off and then start the following week. I think the biggest thing that has ever helped me is having a recovery drink post work out...this is a MUST!!! Every day I have done it over the past 3 weeks I am literally 90% capacity with very little soreness..just the other day I forgot to have my protein shake after my recovery drink and the next day I felt stiff and sore...and same with today.

I spoke with a nutrition consultant who is a bikini super model and she was the one who urged the following:

RECOVERY DRINK immediately after work out...30-40 minutes later, protein shake. This combination is very key and crucial.

After feeling pain and stiff because I forgot to take my protein shake, I know never to do it again. I use a different brand of Recovery that is AMAZING (from Vega) and it's my magic cure!

I had some calf issues with Insanity as well. I just stretched them before and after the workout because Shaun T doesn't do anything to stretch them.
