Starting Slim N 6 12/10/12
12/6/12 5:42 PM
Well I got a great deal and purchased a copy of Slim N 6 @ Half Price Books but didn't get the workout plan or nutrition with it. So I went to the message boards and someone suggested to do Start Up 1 wk, Ramp It Up weeks 2-3 and Burn it Up weeks 4-6, so I'm going to give it a try........if anyone is interested in starting with me on 12/10 I would love the company/feedback/encouragement.......it' always better when you can do it with someone else and cheer each other on.

Hi Valerie, I would start with you emoticon I think you just move on to the next DVD whenever you feel comfortable enough to move to the next. On WOWY it recommends 2 days of SIU, then RIU until the end of the first 2 weeks, and 4 weeks of BIU. You workout 6 days a week. I used this system when we got married 5 years ago, and it works if you make sure to stay committed. That is the hardest part.

Also I think the main thing is just to progress as you feel capable.. if you aren't comfortable going up a video after 2 days, then do a full week of SIU and so on. They also recommend doing Slim in 6 Pack 6 days a week, and Slim & Limber a few days a week (or atleast on Sundays)

Hi BMiickey84,
Thanks for the reply and starting up with me and the great tips. I actually did a test run last Friday night and I have to admit I'm still sore but that's okay, I'm going to keep going, showing up and hitting play. I kinda figured I might stick with the SIU till I felt better before moving on. How many times have you done this program or any others?

I haven't done any in years. I did this one right after I had my son and got back into shape fast. I did SI6 to start my weight loss for our wedding and ended up in the gym. Just kind of quit. My goal this time is to get where I want to be and actually maintain. I am starting out at 153 and would like to get anywhere between 118-125. I am using SI6 as my program, but if I feel on certain days bored (because it's really repetitive) I might go to spin class at the Gym or do some Zumba. Just anything to stay on track.

I am not following the diet plan. (bad I know) I am going to watch my calories and make sure I am eating every 2-3 hours, and just eat healthier choices. What are you planning on doing?

I'm doing Slim In 6 starting today as well... would love to join you guys! I plan to just eat clean instead of trying to stick to a particular diet. It will be hard enough to stick to pushing play 6 days a week.

I too had planned on making better food choices. With Christmas and New Years around the corner I'm totally committing to the 6 days a week of working out, then Cme 1-1-13 I'll eat cleaner. I thin it will be easier for me. Right now, too many festivities if you know what I mean. Finished my 1st workout and feel good emoticon

Welcome Irmamedina,
Congrats on your first day with SI6. I'm really excited and looking forward to the days ahead. I think I may stay with Ramp it Up for a few days till I can do the whole thing without sucking on eggs emoticon

I get what you mean totally. I am going to try to eat better for the rest of the month, but get stricter AFTER the holidays. It's hard enough to start a program this time of year. The working out is top priority for me right now.

I finished SIU this AM. My goal is just to complete the entire program without starting over or quitting. I've started several times before and always quit.

My goal is the same - I WILL complete this 6 weeks because I'm determined. No to get too far ahead of myself but when I finish this I may try The Chalene Extreme. A friend of mine is going to let me borrow hers, then I may be ready to do the P90X again. Next year I'll be celebrating my 30 yr anniversary and we may plan a tropical vacation so that's given me plenty of motivation. I've got to keep looking forward. As far as the weight, I'm looking to loose about 10lbs ( which feels like 50). It's not so much about the weight for me. I just want to feel good on the inside and outside again. Just finished Day 2 with Start it Up again, did a few more push ups (woo whoo)

RE: Starting Slim N 6 12/10/12
12/12/12 8:51 AM as a reply to 1Valerie.
I picked up the set of Slim in 6 DVDs along with some of the follow-on DVDs on freecycle, but like others, it didn't come with any documentation. I want to lose about 50 pounds, and have been working out on and off for a little over a year. I'm 58, and started working out seriously about a year ago when I realized that I'd gone a year with no period and no longer had those protective hormones!

So over the last year, I've done Jillian Michaels, Chris Freytag, and Jari Love with other miscellaneous workouts. I started with using on-demand Exercise TV videos, and then started slowly acquiring videos when I knew I'd like them.

So I started with the Start it Up a few weeks ago, but while it really got me sweating, I was able to do it relatively easily, so I've now moved on to Ramp It Up. What I can't understand is that you're supposed to just do the same workout day after day? That just won't work for me because I'll get bored silly and really hate it. It was one of the things I really liked about Exercise TV was being able to pick and choose a different workout depending on my day. I can do most of Ramp It up until you get to the end and have to do the abs & legs stuff on the floor. At that point, I have to take breaks for a few reps before jumping back in, so I think within a few days, I can probably move on.

This morning, I did the Cardio Core Express workout just to have some variety. Tomorrow, I'll jump back to Ramp It Up.

As far as eating goes, we eat a pretty healthy diet already - no processed foods, almost all organic - but the quantity is what I need to work on. And I'm really hoping that with increased activity, these pounds just might come off. After doing all this working out over the last year, there is a lot more definition in my muscles, but I haven't lost any inches or the extra layer of fat that is especially in my belly. It's like I just got harder, but stayed the same size. I do feel much better, my blood pressure is better, and I can dance & move without being exhausted. But I so badly want to get rid of these extra pounds.

This time last year was a rough one because my Dad came home in hospice care the day after Thanksgiving and at that point, all my working out went out the window. So I decided that I wouldn't let that happen to me this year at all.
