Is an extra break ok? Dizzy & nausea
Hi everyone,

Today I just could not bring myself to following today's video. I just recently started Insanity, going from light dancing with my XBOX Kinect to building stamina for Insanity, so I know I can't just jump right in and keep up. I kicked butt yesterday and mostly kept up with their pace (woohoo!), but I think pushing that hard and not being used to this totally wiped my body out. I have a very stressful early AM waitressing job that had me exhausted by noon. By the time I was able to pop the DVD in, within the first 10 minutes I felt dizzy & wanted to throw up. And this was only during the warm-up!!

EDIT: I am eating right and drinking lots of water.

Is an extra day of rest going to be okay? Will it benefit me more to not push my body this hard until I get used to it? Could it also just be bad timing? (I have finals at school this week, and banquet events at work that really demand a lot of me)

Thanks!

Hi there!

Great job committing to Insanity! I know for me I was the exact same way! It is crazy jumping right into Insanity! But it is also SO worth it!

How much rest are you getting each night? And did you eat before the workout today?

If you have to take extra breaks it is DEFINITELY ok! You really did a good thing, Listening to and knowing your body is absolutely key to doing these programs!

Keep Up The Awesome work!

Well its two week for Insanity for me and i have the day off ...sitting here at work and feel great ...
workout are intense but im gonna keep hitting play...
The biggest challenge for me is just doing them.. I work 65 hours aweek an drive 1 hour to my job so it get hard but I won't use any excuse not to workout if I have time to watch TV I have time to workout..Plus when Im done workingout I feel like I have no cares in the world..lol...like i was back in the 70"s....lol..total rest and relaxation..

Dont know about you but I can use that after a stressful day at work....
well keep hitting play guys I think i found my Mojo....lmbo

Hi Ash. I agree with Daniel. Rest is huge. Especially during finals when you are stressing out until the wee hours of the morning studying for that next final. Your body needs ample recovery time. Rest is when your body is able to dedicate itself to resetting for the next challenges you are about to undergo (work, school, working out, etc.). You also indicated that you are eating right but, re-examine your day. Did you eat prior to working out and not give your digestive system time to do it's work? Or is it possible that a little healthy snack 25-30 minutes before would have been appropriate? I'd start there then, as hard as it may be for a working full-time student, try to put together a good 7 hours of sleep nightly.
You can and should take breaks as you need them. Your body was telling you something and you listened, good for you. Dial in the routine that works for you, keep up the good work, the results will come.
Best for success,
~OwenDaniel

Thank you everyone so much for the input. I felt like taking a break was me giving up, but all I needed was a day of good sleep and rest and now I'm back on track! I found that eating a banana 30 minutes before starting my routine has helped a ton. emoticon I just have to "dig deep" these next few days then I don't have to worry about school anymore!
