Finished first week of INSANITY
Hello everyone,

I just finished my first week of INSANITY and I would like to share some thoughts and maybe get some questions answered. Today is my rest day! YES!

I thought it would be smart to take my weight and measurements before I started INSANITY. My starting weight was 196.4 After my first week of INSANITY, my weight is 197.5. I was wondering if this is normal or if I am doing something wrong. I am on a healthy diet of 5 meals a day including Shakeology at lunch. I know it's only the first week of INSANITY, however, I just want to make sure I am on the right track.

I really do feel great after the first week of INSANITY. I use to play lacrosse so the physical component is there for me and I am past my sore stage already. I have been giving 100% in every workout and my shirt changes colors by the time I finish lol. I keep looking in the mirror and it does look like a bit of changes but it's too soon to tell.

I am recieving a fat burner by the name of "OxyElite Pro" on Monday. I'm hoping this will help to speed the process as I take this burner WHILE doing my 63 days of INSANITY. You are supposed to take the supplement for 8 weeks and then take a 4 week break. It will be perfect timing for my workouts.

I really do feel great after the first week. It's weird because I actually feel skinnier but the scale is saying something else.

Just thought I would share some of my experience and see if there was anything I was doing wrong.

Thanks for any advice or comments,

Paul

Hey Paul,

Congrats on finishing up your first week! I remember my first week being pretty rough. But good to hear you're past the sore stage.

As far as gaining weight right away, that's not totally uncommon and many factors play into it. Even weighing yourself at different times of the day can have a big change. I typically fluctuate at least 3 lbs throughout the day. So for consistency, when I weigh myself it's always first thing when I get up in the morning. Also, water weight can play a big factor here. If your muscles are sore, they're going to retain more water to help repair them.

So I typically advise people to stay off the scale right away, taking measurements and progress pictures are more helpful in seeing the change.

As far as your nutrition goes, how many calories are you eating and what's the percentage of protein/carbs/fat that you're hitting each day?

I think you're headed in the right direction, but I would wait at least a week to get on the scale again.

Paul,

I agree, Tom gives you some good advice. You don't want to worry about the scale going up some at first because that is normal for some people. Your body is probably sore and retaining some water around your muscles. Just focus on your diet and make sure your are following the 40/40/20 split and tracking your calories. Then just follow the schedule and trust diet plan. By day 30 you will see big changes in the scale and your measurements.
