accountability running injury workout buddies marathon training

The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series comes to Seattle on June 22nd and I want to run all 26.2 miles. Well, I'll probably walk at the water stations, but the ultimate goal is run as much of the 26.2 miles as possible. emoticon Right now I have a fractured foot and cannot start running until mid to end of January. I'm using a combination of swimming, Body Beast, Les Mills Pump and low impact Insanity workouts to keep my body in shape until I can run again.

I'm looking for anyone who loves to run and train for races who also uses Beachbody workouts to maintain/improve their bodies to help keep me motivated to keep pushing, stress fracture and all and I promise to return the favor! If you're trying to PR a race or just love running period or even if you're just workin' a Beachbody program without running, I'd love to team up with you and we can keep each other accountable and supported!

I just want to say this - I don't care if you're a member or a coach. I just want some workout buddies. Just please spare this thread from the challenge group spam!

Today's workout was Body Beast: Total Body. I couldn't do the lunges or calf raises because my foot is in a boot so I subbed in more squats and some leg lifts/circles. Not a bad workout. I do wish that Sagi Kalev would go a little slower with the reps. I think I'm getting a cold, but I'm hoping tomorrow I'll feel well enough to get some aqua jogging in at the pool!

Got Max Interval Circuit in this morning, but took it low impact. Still one crazy mother f***er of a workout even low impact! Wearing the Turbo gloves definitely helps to keep my intensity high.

I too am training but for a Tough Mudder race coming up in June! It's 10-12 miles (couldn't imagine doing 26!) and will be my first. I did a Spartan Race (9 miles) last summer.

How happy are you with those workouts? My cardio and endurance are two areas I struggle in, so this is a true challenge for me. I've been doing my best to put on lean muscle the past two months and now want to switch my focus to cardio. Hoping to be able to hit the pavement today to test my distance running.

Hey Rob, nice to meet you! Spartan race and Tough Mudder are both on my list of races I want to do (so long as they don't interfere with marathon training - not supposed to race while training except one half marathon). I've heard very positive reviews on both! In terms of workouts, I love Insanity for training with running. It's really helped me improve on power and endurance - especially with up hill running - and I last longer before getting tired/needing GU. The only thing is that with the start/stop of the circuits and the breaks, it can kind of mess with your willpower with distance running. Really recommend doing tempo runs to help with distance - you run a shorter distance than you would (so if your base is 5 miles, you'd run 3 for example) and you run it faster than is comfortable but not so fast that you can't last all 3 miles without a break.

I am healing a fractured foot from a bad foot strike on an unseen branch while trail running so not sure how Body Beast is going to affect my runs. I'm hoping the strength training along with aqua jogging help improve the strength in my legs and ankles (especially with down hill running) so we'll see when I get this darn boot off! emoticon

My accountability for today - battling a cold so needed to take it even lower key. Got in Turbo Fire: Fire 30 and Sculpt 30 for an upper body workout. Feeling a little better since getting myself moving.

Got my sweat on this morning at *gasp* the gym! 20 minute of aqua jog HIIT's, 10 minutes of HIIT's on the elliptical (I hate that thing, feel like I'm on a hamster wheel it's SO boring) and 20 minutes of lower body lifting.

Started my day with a nice (and cold) 1 mile jog and plan on hitting the weights later today. Hoping to get a spin class in tomorrow morning which will definitely test my endurance.

I'd say this was a good way to start my week!

Nice! Spinning is great cross-training for running.

Got in Les Mills Pump: Pump & Burn today. Supposed to be a rest day but I started feeling kind of restless and needed to do a little something. Aqua jogging is on deck for tomorrow. Man, I cannot wait to hit the trails again. Maybe *I* should find a spin class at my gym to hit up. I bet I could do that with a broken foot.

Yesterday's Spin class was no joke! My body definitely hates me after that one (but in a good way)

Going to start insanity on the first of the year. It's a nice start date I guess. But I'm not resting until then. Going to a Les Mills Pump class they hold at my gym and then some swimming tomorrow

Nice! I got in a spin class today too. Did Les Mills RPM. I've never taken a spin class before and I totally see now why so many running coaches recommend spinning to use as cross training with running. Holy cow!

Another Les Mills RPM spin class in today - holy crap this girl has GOTS to get some bike shorts! Yowch! Really glad I found a way to work my calves with this darn broken foot.
