Christmas Goodies Everywhere!
Christmas Goodies Everywhere!
12/11/12 10:15 AM
I am in my third week of P90X doing fantastic, until this past weekend. Christmas Goodies started swirling and twirling all around me and yes I ate some. I am soooo afraid that I won't keep my mouth closed to the BAD foods. So here I am looking for support because I want this to work. This would be the best gift ever for me.

Hi Slim,

It's that time of the year that we all face these challenges. Stay focused on your goal nad go back to eat every time you are tempted. Do your P90x workout before you go to any gathering and then you'll think twice before eating something bad, because of the effort you just put in for your workout. If you have to go to party, bring your own veggie tray to share. Most importantly, if you mess up forget about it and put it behind you. At least you are exercising through the holidays. You'll be 100% better off than those that choose no too. We have a great support group and I'll seed you a buddy request.

I'm in an eating challenge this month to stifle those desires a bit emoticon It's definitely a hard month - both with having foods that only come out this time of the year and with the nostalgia tied to those goodies!
Maybe figure out which ones you REALLY love and plan to taste a bit of those on certain days? Every year I have a half glass or so of eggnog, just because I do like it. That seems to be enough for me and I don't go overboard. Now, I have to admit, if I start on cookies... I get into a danger zone. I can get into scarf mode... sugar begets a need for sugar in me at times.
I don't keep any treats I like in the house, so the only place I can run into them is on the outside... at work or a party.
I also made a promise to myself to drink water before I eat ANYTHING lately. That is really helping me.
Hope some of these ideas help emoticon

Lets all agree we make mistake in our life and we are all not perfect though we try to be. So you ate a little here and there, lets say that was a treat to yourself for all the hard work you put into your workout and you deserved it at least once at the end of the week, but don't go overboard. I guess what I'm trying to say is that its okay to reward yourself once in awhile like one every month when you keep up the good work. But if you are totally against it the water idea from the post above is good but here is another one. Bring some healthy snacks with you wherever you go and when you get tempted grab a healthy snack and remind yourself why you are doing it. When people around you ask, let them know the story and that you made a promise to yourself that you don't want to break your promise for a healthy you.

I had some muffins today that a friend baked for us!!! Delicious... but they made me have to cut back on dinner... oh well emoticon They were REALLY good, so I don't regret them!
What I am trying to give u now is diet soda. I love it and it feels like my one vice...
I need to go cold turkey! I was supposed to give them up this month and they are sneaking back into my life!

Hmm... muffins and gingerbread houses especially since this time of year. Nothing wrong with once in a while right, just don't spurge. Diet soda is something that I just can't do, the taste and the added chemical that are in them like flame retardants in diet mellow yellow and dr. pepper. Once in a blue moon I go for Natural Sierra Mist, sugar instead of hfcs or aspertine( can't spell it). If you can try club soda/sparkling water/ carbonated water with juice or flavoured water.

No Diet soda yesterday emoticon And a great, healthful eating day all around emoticonI agree that I shuold go for the sparkling water... I live overseas and we don't have a lot of variety, but we do have Perrier (so expensive if you are buying a lot!). I am drinking way more water now, and that cuts my other drink cravings. I usually drink some tea as well, and I always have a few cups of coffee.
The muffins really were fabulous! I am glad to be out of the food loop this year. We are going on vacation to Bali next week and the food there is all healthy and fresh, so that will finish out my year nicely. Between the food changes and my workouts, I am seeing such a nice difference in my body lately!

Wow that's quite some travelling, I'm glad that you are able to keep up the healthy habits, as travelling can be so stressful on the body. Keep it up, you're an inspiration.

We live in Japan, so we are trying to travel in Asia while here emoticon It was so nice to be in Bali, where there was fresh fruit everywhere and vegetables at every meal!! I wish we had as much here.
