Yet another question about goal weight
Yet another question about goal weight
goal weight scrawny

OK, so I started out at ~230lbs, and figured a goal weight of about 205 was where I wanted to be, based on my past history that I felt good and healthy at about 205 and that it was a "good 205" (mostly muscle, all that). Now I have hit 205, and I do feel good, I can see some nuslce definition, I can vaguley see my abs if the lighting is just right etc. But....if I'm REALLY honest with myself, it's not a "good" 205, it's a 205 that is some muscle, but mostly a guy deluding himself into thinking he's bigger (muscle wise) than he really is.

We've all seen the pictures of what 5 pounds of fat looks like (google it, there are lots, it's pretty gross, but it does give you a sense of how big 5 lbs of fat is). If I take a cold hard, non-scientific look at my physique, I would say I've got another 10-15 I could stand to lose.

I'm between 5'-11' 6', and despite the cliche, I'm genuinely "big boned", but I'm figuring 185-190 is probably about right, but by the same token, I'm afraid of feeling scrawny! Yeah, that's probably irrational, but I haven't been under 200 for about 15 years!

I guess I'm mostly looking for validation that 185 is a good healthy weight and I won't feel like someone who is about to get his lunch money stolen. emoticon

Longshot421,

I'm 6'2'' 185lbs currently. Am I scrawny? Perhaps a little. But my goal weight is only 195lbs, and I'm currently only looking to add muscle.

I don't think you'll be scrawny at 185-190. If you've got the right weight on you (muscle that is!) I think you'll be happy!

Thanks Joey, you're probably right, it's just making the mental adjustment. I played rugby for many years, and we were encouraged to be heavier! But I feel SO much more fit and mobile as I drop the weight, so I think I shall target 185-190 and see how that feels.

Cheers,

Mark
