Tough Mudder Training, Will P90X2 and Insanity Combo be adequate?
Tough Mudder Training, Will P90X2 and Insanity Combo be adequate?
p90x insanity event tough mudder p90x2 training program

Hello,

I'll be participating in my first Tough Mudder on Feb 9th, 2012 in Temecula, CA.... and I'm FREAKING STOAKED!

I'm going to start a training regiment for the event and wanted to get some feedback on the training program I've put together for myself.

I've previously completed 1 round of p90X, then Insanity and I'm currently 2/3 way through P90X. I have not done any PAP excercise yet, but from what I've read they seem appropriate for this phase of my training.

I'll only have 1 month to use this new program, starting Jan 5th, prior to the event but I'm in pretty good shape, so I'm not too concerned.

Mon AM PAP Upper
Mon PM Foam Roll

Tues AM Plyo Cardio
Tues PM X2 Ab Ripper

Wed AM PAP Lower
Wed PM Foam Roll

Thurs AM Cardio Power/Resistance
Thurs PM X2 Ab Ripper

Fri AM PAP Upper
Fri PM Foam Roll

Sat AM Pure Cardio
Sat PM X2 Ab Ripper

Sun X2 Recovery/Mobility

** I may throw in a few long distance runs in the last couple weeks, to see where my stamina is at. I've never been a long distance runner, however my cardio improved so dramtically the last time I did Insanity, I'm hoping it will compensate.

Also, We currently have a team of 3, so if you're interested in joining us, let me know, the more the merrier!

Thanks in advance,

Kurt

Hi Kurt,

Good Luck! I am considering doing a tough mudder. I have my 2nd 1/2 marathon in Jan. I have done P90x,Insanity and P90X2. Is there a reason you just want to do the last phase of P90X2? Just for the PAP workouts? Have you looked at the workouts?

Overall, I think its a good trainig program. How much running have you done? feel free to message me any questions or post here.

Cheers,
Christina

Christina,

Congrats on your 1st Marathon and a future congrats on your second, I'm sure you'll do great!

I'm doing the PAPs for 2 reasons.
-I feel my "brute" strength is pretty good at this point, but could use some more explosive, athletic power.
-Also, it seems like the natural progression considering I'm wrapping up the Strength portion of P90X2 soon.

Running- Very little. Which is why I'll probably work in a test run about 2 weeks into this program to see where I'm at and if I need to swap out some Insanity for runs.

Have you tried Asylum? That is a perfect workout for athletic training. Good luck in the Tough Mudder!! I was just looking at their website the other day and when they're coming to Boston. Let us know how you do!!
