FRUSTRATED!!
FRUSTRATED!!

Ok, so I know that nothing happens overnight. But I am on my second week of the second month of Insanity and i haven't lost a single pound or inch.

I have been following the program religously, I haven't missed a workout, as well, I have been true to the diet program, plus I have been running 3k to 5 miles twice per week.
What am I doing wrong??

I would even be ok with looking better, but I don't, I look thicker. Please tell me to keep going..that finishing this program over Christmas is going to be worth it. And that by some Xmas miracle I will at least look better.

I am 5 foot 5 inches, 126 lbs, no I havent been eating the 1800-2000 calories per day as suggested, but with the thick appearance to my body I am afraid to do that-could this be the problem? I wanted to lose at least 5-8 lbs.

Should I do more weights or running in addition?

Hello BunBun,

Sorry to hear your are frustrated. If you haven't drooped any inches or weight after 2 months of insanity, then there is definitely something not right. It usually comes down to nutrition or exercise intensity. You are not missing your workouts and are running in addition, so I would have to believe you are not eating enough calories. You should be at 1800-2000 cals/day. With that much exercise your are starving your muscles of the nutrients they need to recover and rebuild. If they don't get it from food, then they will self cannibalize. I would eat clean and kick up your calories to 1700-2000 day. Let me know if you need help!

I agree that you probably need to eat a little more, not less. Also, at your height and weight you're really going after the hardest 5 lbs of all, the last 5. Those sometimes take a while. It sounds like you have the discipline and drive to get there.

Something tells me with the combo of Insanity and running, you're not fueling enough, like said above. I'm a runner and I use Insanity and run together. However, I don't do both workouts on the same day - recovery is really important and I like to race - meaning I don't want to hurt my joints!

Which brings me to this: more exercise isn't going to bring you results faster. What will probably happen is your body will go into overtraining mode and that's where injury occursif you're not careful. Results happen when your body is recovering. That happens with rest. While you rest, your body repairs those microscopic tears in the muscles that form with weight lifting, plyo, body weight exercises, etc. But if you aren't resting, those tears aren't repairing. If those tears aren't repairing, your metabolism is slowing down. Your body isn't burning fat. Not to mention, if you're running on top of Insanity, your joints are being overloaded and your poor flexors are probably overworked.

Focus on your diet - that's what determines how much fat we lose, maintain or gain. I really recommend investing in a heart rate monitor that tracks calories burned so you have an idea of how much you're burning with your workouts. You don't want more than a 500 calorie deficit - your body needs adequate fuel for an Insanity workout or a run. Both require quite a bit of power. When you find your magic number (the amount of calories you need) then your results will come.

It's a journey. No one gets it perfect right off the bat, what matters is that you keep trying and don't give up.

Thank you for the help and words of encouragement. I am almost finished Insanity, I'm on my last week this week (over Xmas...ugggh) I have got to be the only person who has follwed the program so faithfully and failed at it so miserably.
I have not lost ANY weight and in regards to measurements, nothing has changed, except my thighs and butt going up 1-2 inches. My clothes don't fit and my body looks exactly the same as it did day one.
But I feel stronger, so that's something...
Regarding the eating, no I probably didn't eat enough. I tried, and somedays I burned over 1200 calories doing running ontop of the workouts. I guess I was fearful in "losing" my running endurance I had been building on. On eating that much seemed like I was cancelling out the calories in, calories out (burned).
Now that I am coming to the end, I am not sure how to progress, or what else I can try.
