Forearms-Hand Issues P90x
Forearms-Hand Issues P90x

So I have a question about the arm exercises for P90x. I'm a pretty big guy and started working out with a friend of mine and when I do pull ups or any kind of dumbbell exercise throughout the hour program we're doing my forearms end up getting so tight that I can barely make a fist and if I try and push myself well it feels like It's gonna rip. So I'm curious If anyone might know what this is?

sounds like you need to build up your forearm/grip strength. get some lifting straps, start the workout without them and when your grip is completely gone, switch to the straps. don't become dependent on them though. use them only as a last resort and your grip will improve over time.

Try relaxing your grip when doing pull ups and curls. Tightness in the forearms from doing these exercises is usually a sign that someone is holding on to tight.

I agree with Jeff above. I used to have the same problem until I noticed that I was tensing up much of my body during a lot of exercises. Try to relax the parts of your body that aren't doing the work (like your forearms in a lot of situations, but not so much that you lose your grip). It will allow you to focus on the body part you're supposed to be working if you relax everything else.
