Attempting again...
Attempting again...

Hey everyone,

I'm 5'8" started at 130 but ever since I moved to LA I kept on gaining weight. I tried dieting and exercising but the scale just kept going up and up until I hit around 147. I tried Insanity over the summer, lost some inches not weight, but stopped two weeks before the end because my knee starting acting up. Now I'm at 155. emoticon I'm really upset because I feel like the more I try to lose weight, the more I gain it.

Well, I'm trying again. I'm going on a strict diet and starting the fit test tonight.

Wish me luck! I really want to be a success story!

Have you tried taking pictures and measurements instead of depending on the scale? It very well could be muscle gain that is making the scale go up. For 5'8 130 actually sounds rather on the light side, but it depends on your body composition. The scale is a poor indicator of health as it is unable to take into account the fact that you could be getting physically more fit, and thus healthier, but going up in the weight department.

It's a better idea to go with strength gains as a mile marker of progress. Did you find that other than knee pain you were able to perform Insanity to a stronger degree?

Hi Allison Lynn!

LA hugh? My wife and I live an 30 -60 min North of LA. Great job on re-engaging with Insanity. This program is extreme and had been know to cause a lot of knee issues, usually beucase most people have not been progressed. You need to have the proper proprioception and neurological adaptation to do this program. With that said, most injuries are due to tight IT bands...more than likely you developed some muscle imbalances while performing the workout, which caused pain in the knees. This is a simple fix that a Foam Roller can take care of.

Let me know if we can help you!

Hi Allison,

Don't give up. First of all, in order to do Insanity, you have to take in the right amount of calories; otherwise you'll find that the scale is not budging. Use the calculations in the book to determine how many calories you should be eating daily. Insanity workouts use alot of calories, so if you're not eating enough you will find yourself sluggish and more fatigued than usual when working out.

I'm 5'0 and started at 140 lbs, I'm on my next to last week of Insanity. Although, I haven't lost a lot of weight, I've lost inches and my clothes fit better. I actually think I've gained more muscle. My main goal is to get toned. Right now, I weigh 136. I'm either going to do another round of Insanity, but am thinking of trying Les Mills pump. I've also done a couple rounds of P90X, plus the P90X/Insanity Hybrid. They all have done well for me as long as I stick to them and the most important thing is your nutrition. Just remember, If you put good things in your body you'll see a great result.
