Day 1 of P90X Tomorrow
12/16/12 8:03 PM
I'm starting my first day of P90X tomorrow. I am very nervous! I don't work out much and have never been a very athletic person. Most of my "problem" areas are in my stomach, back, and legs. I really need some motivation to stick to this! It's going to be very hard for me to eat healthy since I am a very picky eater and have never really eaten much veggies growing up. I think I'm in for a rude awakening the next 90 days!

Also, how long did it take for y'all to start seeing results with your body? I am hoping by the end of the week I'll look better, but one can only hope! emoticon

@Casey, Yea, thats what ive been doing, just dragging myself when its time to work out and just press play. Some of the work outs may not be the easiest, but after a while (or at least im hoping) your body will get used to it.

My goal is to start tomorrow (Dec 17, 2012). I used to run a fair amount, and two years ago, I made it about 8 weeks into P90X. I was a lazy runner, because I knew I could be far more fit looking if I just took my diet more serious and added in some cross training, and I would also probably kick some of my running friends' behinds. Anyways, the 8 weeks of P90X brought me a ton of strength for some of the big hills on the trails we were facing, and it was awesome cross training going into the Spring, setting me up for a fun summer in the trails.

Did I see changes right away? No. Did I keep looking in the mirror daily and wondered when I would see changes? Yup. Did I at first get frustrated and sometimes disappointed? You bet. But I kept at it, and the real telling thing was when I looked at my day 1 photos and then my day 30 photos, and then day 60. THAT was motivation :-) So take those photos because you might not see change right away, and you definitely won't see it when you look in the mirror daily!

Anyways, fast forward to now. I have run 5 times since January 1st of this year (I used to run up to 5 times per week). I have gained a lot of weight (and not the muscular kind), and I've decided it's time to get refocused and take care of my health.

SO, I start tomorrow! My goal is to gain overall fitness to carry me through the winter and set me up for great trail running in 2013! I figure I have about 30 pounds of fat to lose, and I'll gain muscle (I'm guessing 15 pounds, but I have no idea). I don't worry about my weight so much, but more gauge how I feel physically and mentally :-) I also vowed a few years that I was going to have abs when I turned 40 (I don't think I ever achieved them), so I have 11.5 months to get there!

I'm hoping we can all encourage each other to press play and not give up! Can't wait to see updates here, and I'll provide updates too. I do need to take some new Day 1 photos as well, so maybe I'll post them to keep me honest!

Let's all make this happen :-)

Andrew

I started P90X (AGAIN!) on 12/10. I already dropped 1.5 pounds. I did about 40 days of the program 4 years ago. The results were awesome. I dropped 23 pounds from 9/22/08 to 11/4/08. 203 lbs - 180 lbs. I'll never forget those dates. I wished I kept at it, but whatever...I have the chance now.

It's going to be tough and you may even hate it, but it truly gets better.

Hey all, i am starting my second week of P90X tonight emoticon

My results from the first week are allready amazing i think! i lost 6lbs of fat emoticon

The workouts are though, but don't you ever give up!

Can't handle it anymore? Pauze, recover a few seconds (up to 2 mins max) and press play again!
Don't give it your 100% no, give it your 110%!

I gave it my 110% each day the last week, changed my eating habits to the nutrition plan, and have allready been shedding fat after only 1 week time!
I can only hope to keep this up (which wont be too hard i think, since i love the results allready!) and become a more healthy person!

I don't feel my heart pounding when running up the stairs anymore, i can run from my car to my front door without going out of breath emoticon

Feeling better than i have before emoticon

I actually finished my first round of p90x a week ago. It generally went well -- I lost about 10 pounds over the 90 days, while increasing muscle mass and strength at the same time. (I'm sure I could have lost more weight, but am now at BMI of 22 and reasonably muscular, so additional weight loss is more of a vanity issue than a health priority.) I was only about 70% compliant with the diet, what with Thanksgiving and occasional meals out with friends.

I did begin to see and feel some results fairly quickly -- I was down an inch on my waist in the first 30 days. This being said, try not to focus too much on the scale or the mirror, at least in the first several weeks: focus on the soreness instead. It's a good soreness -- your body will start to change as you get stronger. Particularly if you make a good faith effort with the diet, then everything will tighten up from the strength training. There is no substitute for lifting weights in order to burn fat!

One way to help stay motivated is to keep posting your progress (exercise and diet) from day to day -- both the good and the bad. Everybody here is a part of a community, and we all share encouragement and support. It's a better way to keep momentum than focusing too much on scale or mirror -- the changes will come, but it does take some patience and perseverance to make them happen.

I'm currently on maintenance (more or less) through the holidays, but will start another p90x round in early January. Yesterday I did X-stretch and managed to tweak my back (ouch!) -- then went to the gym to try to loosen it up, ran a couple of miles and did pull-ups and dips. Still sore today, but back is slowly improving...

So I just finished my third day of p90x! I am soooo sore!! I wasn't able to do Ab Ripper X because I couldn't hold myself up due to my sore upper abs. Did anyone else have this problem? I feel like a "loser" for not finishing it but it was too painful. I was thinking of giving my abs another day of rest and maybe with Yoga tomorrow I can do it then. What do y'all think?

Also, has anyone followed the nutrition plan to the T? It's tough to follow as a college student!!

I'm getting P90X for Christmas, so I plan to start on the 26th. I did the P90 program before there was an X! So it's been awhile. I also started p90X several years ago and made it halfway through before I let other things get in the way. I've wanted to restart P90X several times, but I can NOT find my DVDs anywhere! And I just packed up and moved everything in my house and still didn't find them. I must have lent them to someone and completely forgot about it. So I finally asked for a new set as a Christmas gift. Can't wait!

Wow, nice results from your first week! Doing Ab Ripper X after any workout seems very difficult. You could always try doing it beforehand too, but as time goes on you'll get stronger and stronger and be able to do more. Keep up the great work!

I also have trouble with the ab ripper x after doing the other workouts, but atleast I try. Like Tony says..."do your best and forget the rest". Now if only I could follow the nutrition plan perfectly. I follow about %50. I need help in that area.

Well, I had a false start but got started on the 29th. Today I completed day 3. I too am quite sore!

I have not yet focused on "nailing" the nutrition aspect of the plan, but I am eating MUCH better since starting, as I know from last time the nutrition part is such an integral part if you want to see results like others show. I plan to get dialed into the nutrition tomorrow (Jan 1).

How's everyone else doing?

Hey Ashley! How is everything coming with the program so far? I am actually just getting ready to start p90x for the first time on January 5th. I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know I feel like I am in the exact same boat as you are. It is nice to hear there are people in my same situation. I used to be pretty active, but have really fallen off for the last few years and am ready to get in much better shape. I'm worried about the diet too, because same as you, I am really picky eater, and am worried about staying true to the diet.

Have you started seeing results yet? I would love to hear on how things are progressing for you!

When I started working out for the first time ever it was with P90X in september 2009 right when I turned 18. I was really skinny and thought I would just ease through it but I got owned lol. I would recommend to pace yourself and spend the first 2 weeks going about 75-80% of your maximum. That way it gives you time to learn the moves and form properly. Around week 8 is when I saw noticeable results in the mirror but overall my energy felt great just a few weeks in emoticon.

Stay consistent on your journey and maybe video blogging will help you too emoticon
