lost 90 pounds in 90 days but have not seen much since
I was 270 pounds and started p 90 x one year ago. I lost 90 pound in the first 90 days. And since that first 90 days i only lost another 8??? I recently went to the doctor and my weight was 162, that was 5 weeks ago. I continue everyday doing p 90 x i have modified it to extreme doing kempo with wieghts ect.. I don't weigh my self very often as to not lose motivation, but for some reason i got on the scale this morning and my weight went up to 173 WTF, i don't understand, i don't look 10 pound heavier, i don't even know how i could have gained back 11 pounds seeing i not only do the x to the extreme, but i do twenty minutes of eleptical training every day 7 days a week. Can i get some advise as to what is going on. I am bummed right out..

Hi Andy,

First, great job on the weight loss so are! That's awesome!

Two things come to mind when i read your post. First, you might need to change your nutrition plan. I'm not sure if you are using the same nutrition plan since you started, but now that you lost 100 lbs., you might need to change a few things to get on track. Second, is your workout program. Your body might not be adapting any longer because it is used to the same routine. By changing to a completely new workout program, you will shock your body and the new training style will force the muscles to adapt, therefore creating more weight loss.

Let me know if I can help you further.

Hi Andy!!!

Great job on your weight loss!!! A few coaches in our group had the same issue and some did change the fitness program. They also did the Ultimate Reset and a few continued with the same program after and noticed more changes shortly after. Changing your diet will help too and keep in mind muscle weighs more than fat. You have gained more muscle I'm sure so do not think your stuck, your just in the process of changing. You will see and get more results in time. God Bless you!

My #1 thought is if you are a normal height man at 162 then you probably don't need to lose much weight, if any. I suggest you start using other measures of progress besides the scale. Go by your strength, energy level, measurements and fat %.

And, yes, if you're still eating where you were to lose 90 lbs in 90 days you probably need to totally readjust your eating. Tell us more about what you are currently doing

well i have retooled p 90 to be somewhat even more extreme, during the warm up and cool down i run on an eliptical machine it's about 20 min every day! then i do back and chest on monday, arms and shoulders on tueday, ploy on wed. chest and shoulders on thursday, kenpo with 2 and 10 pound weights on friday, and core on saturday. I sub second work outs about 2- 3 times a week with cardio x or eliptical running. My diet is not the greatest except i use my fitness pal to stay under 1500 cal a day. However i won't lie some times that includes alcohol, so i know i am not fueling my body the way i should always. Since my last post i cut back on the alcohol. you should see pics of my self i should not be bummed cause i look crazier than the commercial folks i see on tv. It is just that i work so hard and have come a longggggg way from a year ago. When i explain it to people i have to say it is like i ran a marathon and am ten feet ( or 10 #s from the finish line and can't seem to cross the sash). I am proud of what i have done to my body thru p 90 x i just don't get how i can't get over this platue. Thanks for all the comments.

I think you're probably overtrained and overtraining. I can see how someone with your experience could easily take it from one extreme to another. What's your rest cycle like? Have you been taking rest weeks? And if you look like the folks on P90X commercials now then it's probably time to enjoy that and maybe consider why even that isn't entirely satisfying to you?

Rest period ( just sundays. /recently)Your right.
But the fear is if I stop even for one day I will quit.
When I 1 st started at 5' 5" and 270 I could not even do a normal push up, there is a in my opinion a long period till it hurts les and then less and then it really does not hurt anymore it is more of a just hit play do the hour and watch what ya eat, so now the exercises are easy so I have invented ways to make them harder but my fear is if I rest I won't start back up. Do I really need a rest period, even if I don't see the minor improvements I want, over time if I keep at it will my body get used to the cal intake and exercise and gain the weight back or regardless of muscle memmory will I continue to see improvements just at a slower pace if I keep doing what I am doing

Andy, you are not the same person now that you were back then. At this new phase of your life you need to allow your body rest and recuperation to keep moving forward toward your goals. Otherwise you'll stay at this point until something really breaks down, and then it's possible that you really might quit. But taking well-deserved and needed rest periods isn't going to put you back to 100 lbs overweight and unable to do a pushup.
