First things first:

Nutrition
If you want to see great results, you have to focus on your nutrition as much as the workouts. Nutrition plays a key role in how you will reach your goals and attain the new and better you! Getting a solid nutrition plan in place prior to starting is key. Over time you will learn new eating habits that you can carry with you for the rest of your life.

Shakeology is a great way to meet many of your nutritional needs! As a meal or a snack it fuels your body with everything it needs in order to BRING IT everyday!

Track your progress
Where are you now? Where do you want to be? Have Goals!

Nothing is more important or motivating than to see where you started and how you are progressing along the way! It is so CRUCIAL that you do the following BEFORE you begin:

Take your Measurements
Take your before & after pictures

Motivation
Nothing is more important than motivation. Times will get tough and there are going to be days that you feel like you cannot get up or you feel too tired at night to workout. This is where your Coach and this thread help out. By joining this thread you will find like minded people that will push you and look for help from you to be pushed. This is a 90 day program and it helps to have not just your Coach in your corner but a whole team ready to cheer you on and waiting for you to cheer them on.

Workouts
WARNING: The first few weeks are is rough but after you make it through them things get much better.

Too many people give up during the first few weeks because they think it is to tough. Everyone that has done any of these programs has had moments of doubt. Just KEEP PUSHING PLAY.

Pre-Workout
All the workouts are intense! You need the right fuel to “Bring It!” Your pre-workout meal actually begins the day before. So again, a solid nutrition plan is vital. A pre-workout meal about an hour before is important. Be warned: if you ENGAGE in a cardio workout too close to the pre-workout meal you may lose it.

If you workout first thing in the morning like myself, I advise a small snack (I like wheat toast with peanut butter).

Post-Workout
Recovery: After an intense P90X workout, it is vital to recover the right way. By adding a Recovery Drink immediately after your workout, you will significantly decrease the amount of soreness you will experience while your body recovers. Intense exercise will burn off glycogen stores in the muscles which leaves the body without its primary source of energy. You need to replace these glycogen stores immediately with a 4:1 ratio of quality, fast acting carbs and quality protein. Plus low blood sugar levels in the brain will lead to fatigue, irritability, lack of concentration, depression, etc.

The P90X Recovery Drink will replenish your muscles with glycogen, you will not only avoid muscle breakdown, but you will promote muscle growth and keep your energy levels up. I have used the recovery drink from day one and I highly recommend it.

Come to the thread every day and post your daily accountability and questions and before you know it you will be at 20, then 40 and finally 63 days.

This thread is a great way to meet like minded, motivated people that are going through exactly what you are going through. They will help you stay accountable and motivated, and you will keep them accountable and motivated! Everyone comes from different backgrounds and will be able to share tips and information that has helped them and could help you as well.

A little about me.

I started my Beachbody journey 1 1/2 years ago. Two rounds of P90X, two rounds of Insanity, a round of P90X2, and currently Body Beast. These programs have gotten me in the best shape of my life.

I work full-time and coach here on Beachbody and Facebook during my free time. I am a coaching addict and love to help others succeed.

Committing to your health can get you there also.

Decide. Commit. Succeed.

I am going to be trying to do the hybrid of Insanity and P90X starting in the new year. It's going to be a different kind of challenge for me, as my goal is to focus on the nutrition side of this combination more than I have been in the past.

CoachJason- do you have any recommendations for a 5'7 female, age 26 and weighing approximately 170 lbs for nutrition? I'm not sure what my calories should be, or what my ratios for carbs/protein/fats should be for this hybrid.

Tricia,

You will have much success with that hybrid. That is one of the few things I have not done yet but from other customers I have seen tremendous results.

I'd advise calories of 1900. That should give you enough for working out but still put you at a deficit to drop a bit every week.

Awesome, thank you Coach! I'm excited to start it, and surprisingly nervous about it too, which seems strange to me. I've done both programs, so it's not like there will be any surprises there. I guess it's just that whole 'new experience' thing.

Looking forward to tackling Insanity again, and seeing how it works with resistance training mixed in there. I suspect this hybrid will be tough but awesome emoticon

I have a question about insanity...
It's a little intimidating, just watching the clips of it available online and seeing how intense it can be. Which DVD session would you recommend to show to people to try and get them interested in trying the whole program?

I figured to let Month 2 remain a wonderful surprise with the Max workouts, but which one of Month 1 workouts would be the most first time friendly do you think?

I think Plyo Cardio Circuit or Cardio Power and Resistance are good choices.

The thing is, nobody is ever ready for Insanity. The good thing is that anyone can do it as long as they modify. If Shawn and the crazies are jumping up and down for 90 seconds, jump up and down for 30 until you get better. In time you will improve (even the insaniacs in the videos take breaks).

First day of now running or workouts in 19 days. I've been alternating Body Beast lifting days with light runs. I'm fidgeting but I know my body needs a complete rest every now and again - even if I don;t feel like it.

Good point on helping people modify until they build up to it. A lot of people seem to get really down on themselves when they can't keep up to the bodies in the videos. It's hard to remember that those people have done this all before, so they not only alreayd know what's coming next, but have gotten to the fitness point of being able to do it, and yet they still need breaks.

A little about myself:

I am 43 years old and live in California. Been physically active my entire life(H.S. football, Army Ranger, running and weights). Been heavy into running the past few years. Completed my first attempt at a Marathon in November 2010 in under 4 hours. The last 7 years or so though, the metabolism has caught up with me and I had gotten a little soft around the middle. I was looking to tighten back up and get the body back from 15 years ago. Knew a few friends that had success with P90X and decided to give it a shot.

HOLY GUACAMOLE DOES THIS WORK.

I feel like a kid again (at least maybe a 25 year old). I've had to purchase new clothes and feel strong and athletic in my new body. BUT I'M NOT SATISFIED. Looking to be as fit as I can be.

To date I have completed P90X twice, Insanity, and P90X2. Currently I am taking on Body Beast.

I also enjoy helping others achieve their goals. That is why I became a Beachbody Coach. If you want it, I can help you too.

I'll PUSH PLAY TODAY, will you?

Thanks for popping in Mike.

Question for you. You said earlier on another thread that you were going to do the 2nd of two options when it came to calories. So was that the zigzag method or the max calories for a few weeks method?

Hey Jason from the new guy to your group. Good to know this thread is here when I need it! About me: I'm on Week 3 of P90X, although I've done it once before so I know it works. The trick is to keep doing something - another round of P90X this time and next (Jason convinced me) P90X2. Whew. Maybe after that RevAbs or Insanity. I'm a big believer in Beachbody.

Peek A Boo .. I found you ! So this is the launchpad for insanity .. awesome, its pretty fabulous so far !!

Im April, I finished up with two rounds of Insanity, and currently on Insanity/P90x Hybrid. It's going just swimmingly .. I love Insanity, very very much and am loving P90x. Im in the first recovery week of end of Phase One, woo hoo !! Super duper excited to get into Phase Two, chompin at the bit to get outta recovery week.

I had increased my calories to about 1600 per day, gained a few pounds, freaked out and had a meltdown but am ok now. I gained a bit more weight not too much so I am gettin used to the calorie increase. Just going to bring it every day, push play every day and make the best out of every minute in the short one hour workout..

One question Coach, how low can I go on the calories without hitting the danger zone ? I read where Mike may zig zag his calories, can I do that to maybe pause the weight gain ? Any ideas would be great.. thanks for helping !!

Be safe // April emoticon

Jason,

I'm in. Unfortunately I've been dealing with some illness issues lately, last week was a wash out due to some virus and this week I had an intense gastro-intestinal issue. So I may have to start my round 2 all over. But this will be a good place to start. Its been very frustrating when I want to stay with the program but the body won't cooperate. So I guess its time for me to practice what I preach and let my body heal.

I have thought of a bright side though, people pay good money for a cleanse and I got mine for free. Lucky me!

Seriously welcome all I look forward to connecting with old friends and meeting new ones.

For those that don't know me I'm 54 from the frozen lands of Nebraska. I have lived a lifestyle of wellness mostly focused on endurance. I've run a Marathon and cycled a century and done one bike tour. I started Insanity last summer and slimmed down the waist significantly got a ways to go to reach goals I'm looking for.

I will be starting my second round of Insanity soon then plan to do P90X before the biking season hits.
