From lean to classic in the middle of the program?
Hello.

Today is the day, that I would start the second phase of the lean version, but I really want to switch to the classic version, because I would like to have more resistance exercises.

What I am wondering is:

a) should I just continue with the classic version in phase 2, or...
b) should I start all over again, with phase 1 classic?

Thank you very much for your anwsers in advance.

Best regards,

Katarina

My suggestion would be to start over fresh with the Classic routine. There are some good resistance workouts in Phase 1 that you would miss out on until Phase 3. It is also best to complete a full cycle of a program to get the full benefits.

let me know if you have other questions.

Thank you for your answer.
I will go with your suggestion and start all over. I know that I will have some problems with the chest and back workout, since I currently cannot do one "normal" pushup, but I'm sure I will improve over time.

Do you have any suggestions on how to do the "kneeling pushups" the best way, so that I can progress to a normal one quicker?

I'm sorry if this is a silly question (I'm still a beginner) and if my grammar is a bit of (I'm really from Europe, but I could select my country in the registration form emoticon )

Best regards,

Katarina

Hi Katarina,
This is a good question. If you start from week one, you will have many opportunities to do pushups. Start with what you are able to do. If you can only do them on your knees, continue to do this for a while. Tony varies the pushups in so many ways (wide/narrow/fast/slow) that you will improve your ability to do them. Once a week try to do a regular pushup. Your body will respond when it is physically ready. Trying to force things usually (but not always) results in an injury.

In the beginning I could not do one pullup. After 10 weeks of just using the resistance bands, I was able to do 4 pullups. It gets better but it takes time and effort.

Also, your grammar is fine. If you are from Europe, you already know grammar in at least 2 languages. Not to worry.

All the best,

Agree with Brian...find what works for you first. If you can do them on your knees with your hands on the floor that is great. If you struggle with that, raise your hands to a bench or chair (sturdy of course) level and do it from there. You want to go slow and control the motion with your arms and chest and keep your back straight. The ones on the floor are more difficult so if you can do those start there. Over time you will see strength increase and then you can progress further.
