Starting X2 soon, and have some questions.
I will be starting X2 after the holidays and want to get it right. Im 5ft 6in, 143 lbs, and hopefully having my BF accurately checked today. Im not big, but I do have some excess fat I can lose, but I also REALLY want to build miscle. With that said, should I start on the 1800 calorie diet even though it did not feel like enough before? Or modify to 2000-2200 which I am eating now? (I was eating 1800 but saw little progress so gradually up'd it to 2200 calories, where I am now. I havent seen any positive or negative physical change).

My first question would be are you tracking down your nutrition ? And what macro are you using?

It is usually pretty hard to gain muscle and losing weight together as they basically require opposite calorie intake. To lose weight you have to be in a light calorie deficit and to gain muscle you have to be over.

Let us know your body fat % and we will see from there what would be the best calorie intake to reach your goal.

You need to decide what is more important; lose weight or gain muscle. The reason, really, is that to lose significant weight you're going to need to be at a 300 to 500 calorie daily deficit. To put on muscle you want to be at a slight surplus. You might also try calculating your exact daily need and then zig and zag a little above and below it.

Yes, I track my nutrition with myfitnesspal.com. I will have my BF checked this coming monday now. I plan on using the macros in the X2 Nutrition guide, so starting at 50/25/25 (P/C/F).

If you wanna gain muscle mass i would change your macro to 50% Carbs / 25% Protein / 25% Fat. You will need to add more calories so you don't want to have to take 300g of protein and you will need those carbs for fuel.

Let us know when you have your body fat % and i will calculate your calorie target for muscle gain.

I'm assuming that since you're doing X2 that means you've done P90X, right? How recently did you do it and what was your diet for that?

Well, numbers are in, I am 10.8% BF. Lower then I had expected. So with this, now I am also wondering if I should skip the fat shredder phase of X2?

I would. It seems like your goal is really to put on some more muscle, right? Then you don't want to be in fat shredder.
