Nutrition Guide help with phase 1
Hi, my name is abel and i am 27 years old 5'11 and 173lbs
My goal is to get rid of my love handles and gain muscle to finally be able to go to the beach and not be inside the pool all the time but i would like to show off my body emoticon
So i just started p90x and today i will be doing my 3rd workout when i get home but i am confused about the calories and protein i am supposed to consume.
This is an example of how i am gonna be eating the first week.
Breakfast i had shakeology with soy milk and half a banana
Snack i take my 20g protein bar
Lunch i have my tuna salad
Snack 20 almonds
Dinner is up to my wife so i will either eat chicken, beef with brocoli, turkey or fish.
And as for the workout it all depends if i am tired.
If i am i eat, wait 2 hours and then workout, right after that i take my whey protein which is 60 grams of protein a serving with 3 scoops but i take 1 scoop making it 20 grams of protein, is that ok or do i need more protein for my post workout recovery drink?
I havent count the calories taken but i was wondering if i am doing something wrong?

Hi Abel,
This are the recommended steps to keep on stop on the nutrition
1) Calculate the calories you should be having to lose weight
2) go to the nutrition guide and decide if you are doing a "portion" approach or counting grams approach. I personally do the counting grams. You can use myfitnesspal.com to do this. You will get used in 1 week
3) Once you have this figured out create a schedule for the week.

Let me know if I answered your questions.

1) Create a myfitnesspal.com account. (Free)
2)Calculate your body fat %
3) Macros of 40% Carbs / 40% Protein / 20% Fat

If you don't have a lot of body fat to loose, you can aim at higher calories to build muscle otherwise you might wanna go lower on calories to loose body fat and then up the calories to build muscle.

You don't know how much you are eating if you are not tracking your nutrition. CHeck your body fat and log your nutrition then we will adjust for your goals!

Good advice for everyone above. You really need to know exactly how much you are eating if you want to achieve a goal like yours. There's not that much weight you need to lose. You're really looking to find a virtuous balance and convert your remaining fat into muscle.
